Don't replace! they all have a place . Every FAC should have a 22 LR no matter what else is in the cabinet , PCP generally will suffer maintenance quirks and ammo . A 22LR will work with very little trouble and really you don't need to spend much at all and there is no charging " issues " etc. £150-£300 is all you really need to spendI'm considering an fac air rifle for pest control, to replace my 22/17hmr, rabbit crow etc my question is simple what do people think is the calibre to go for 22 or 25, I already have a 177 sub 12 for indoor/ closer range work. Like I’ve pointed out many a time, FAC air will do a lot more than .22lr and I have both . Some of these FAC air can achieve 200 + ftlbs . Personally i say 12ftlb airgun , 22LR , 223 rem , 243win and you can do everything anywhere with the exception you might need to go a bit larger that 243 if you want to go for Boar . If you didn't need a deer rifle at all ? drop the 243 because the 223 can do everything below it .
FAC air is more popular than it should be , simply because most folks start with the sub 12ftlb airgun . Paying out for a real good PCP and charging kit for killing ferals and rats and a few bunnies ?
Just saying like
What rifle is he doing that with?Like I’ve pointed out many a time, FAC air will do a lot more than .22lr and I have both . Some of these FAC air can achieve 200 + ftlbs . I know someone who is running.25 44gr slug at 99 ftlbs with pin point accuracy past 100 yards
Rti mora .25 these guns are getting great reviews from real shooters not just you tubersWhat rifle is he doing that with?
.25 ?Just shot my longest rook on some drilling, yep maybe a little lucky but dialled it in and head shot him at 145 yds, he was dead on the spot,
35g zan slugs running at 960 fps out of my Maverick , I just love it![]()
I have had more than a few of both. What your saying is a 44 grain from an airgun is in some way better than a 22LR firing pretty much the same projectile - How the heck does that work then . There is a massive amount of 22lr ammo abound the entire globe and ammo of lots of different power levels , price ranges etc . There is a big difference in what you feed them and the performance you require . Lapua for instance even make some specifically made for up to 600 yard long range use ! BTW its sub 1000 FPS !!! How ? Don't know , high quality with a high cost i Guess!Like I’ve pointed out many a time, FAC air will do a lot more than .22lr and I have both . Some of these FAC air can achieve 200 + ftlbs .
