I live at home and my parents are not happy for me to have a gun safe, however my girlfriends dad is a FAC holder and said I can have one there if it allowed ?

Okay perfect sorry it wasn’t that clear but you have seemed to answer it perfectly, thankyou

But, as far as I am aware, he would need to have your rifles on his ticket as well.

There may also be caution on that, because it's your girlfriend's dad, not direct family? So concerns may be abound about if your relationship goes sour?

Yes you can have the safe and firearms at a different address, however I'd sit down with your parents and discuss it with them, find out what there reservations are and why, and come up with a solution. While theres nothing wrong with having them at a different address, the feo may look closer as to why your parents are against the idea

Not if he didn’t have access to the cabinet interior.

But I agree tenuous link to the location will not go in your favour, nor the fact that your parents don’t want you to have guns the house. They are likely to get quizzed why and it will raise eyebrows even if the answer is innocent enough.

You might as well ask the licensing department on their opinion directly. As mentioned above you will have to answer why your parents are ruling out a cabinet. My guess is that it's a no go. Wait until you have your own place. Your girlfriend's dad can take you out and you may be able to borrow a SG or firearm whilst under his direct supervision. Learning from him will boost your chances as you can put that on your application in future - "I have been stalking with Mr. XYZ for the last 24 months". Also, if you have funds, rather than spending on afirearm, buy yourself some training such as DSC1. All this will help you on your way to a certificate when the time is right.

You might also like to consider the question of you being able to access your firearms when they are not at home/on holiday and the logistics of you being able to put your firearms away early hours of the morning when you’ve finished vermin control and they’re all in bed, will you have unfettered access to the property 24/7 and will they be comfortable with the possibility police wanting access to the safe for any reason?

In theory, yes that is allowed. And there's no need for your guns to be listed on his FAC, provided only you have access to the inside of your safe.

I would have a chat with your parents, only you know them, considering keeping a safe and contents other than your or parents property is open to issues.
I would be asking your parents why you can have a cabinet, is it the fixing to the property or the contents that causes the issue ?
Are they against shooting, are they concerned with having guns in the house or you personally having guns ?
