Fallow Crop Damage

I put the drone up over a barley field where I took a fallow pricket from last Sunday evening (in far from ideal conditions) to see the crop damage a small group of 6 fallow bucks had caused in what was I suspect only a week or so, having seen them previously elsewhere in other corn crops on the farm. I was surprised to say the least with what I saw - posted for interest for others questioning how much movement/couched damage fallow cause, let alone that eaten on the margins.

Ain’t no mistake there on damage, the drone is perfect for this type of work 👍

I’ve been looking at one for pest control and feral pigeon proofing requirements on out of sight places and obviously for this type of evidence gathering

What make and model are you using please, i was thinking of thermal for work in lofts and at night
Not being a techy person by a long chalk, I've got to make sure its a measure twice cut once purchase as they aren't cheap

But a brilliant asset for whatever its use

Nice job
Phil

@Overlay I'd love a thermal drone but they are sooooo expensive - mine is a recreational item that I cannot sadly justify upgrading further. This one is a DJI Air2S bought off a fellow stalker on here about 18 months ago. DJI are outstanding (as the Ukrainians are demonstrating) which numpties like me can operate what is in fact a very complicated and sophisticated device (I keep on wanting to write toy 🤭 but it's much more that that). Whilst the crops are still standing, I've decided to leave it in the car as a possible recon/lost animal tool.

Overlay....

a good starting one is something like a DJI Mini Mavic 2 or 3 . Sub 250 grams so no expensive licence needed. CAA registration is required but very easy online test/application. Run time is approx 20 mins per battery . 4K camera.
Cost from Argos from £249 for a Mini 2...£460 for a Mini 3. :thumb:

Spookily, having just posted the above this morning I get an email from the CAA saying:

Your drone and model aircraft ID expires on 14/08/2024 and it’s time to renew for the next 12 months. Renewing costs £11.13 per year.

It's not a lot really  but am I being paranoid or is this just one of those random coincidences............ :-|
