Fallow rut

Anyone seen signs? Boys moving onto the estate so it must be imminent. A few known spots showing signs of activity but nothing seen or heard yet. Was roughly this time last year, perhaps with the temperature change this weekend it may bring them on?

Nothing here yet, except a few fresh scrapes. My bucks don't usually make much noise until after mid October.
However, I bought another herd on Wednesday, and when I went to collect them the chap I got them from said he'd heard the first grunting the night before.
That was 130 miles south of here, so I'm guessing that might make a difference?

Heard a grunt in Sussex this morning.

I went to Helmingham (Suffolk) yesterday - very quiet, didn't hear a fallow, one single roar from a red but I think it's a stop/start year - we are now getting a few cold nights, that should help.

Starting to see the bucks coming back onto the ground now. No Rutting as of yet, but all the big old boys that disappeared in august are now starting to show their faces again.

I’m always a little surprised they haven’t spread into fife and the surrounding areas from perthsire. Sika seem to be spreading rapidly in Scotland but fallow not so much

I'm fairly sure I could hear one grunting yesterday morning when I was out with the dogs. Wyre forest.

We have regulars herds of Fallow wandering into our back field. We have seen a buck wandering around the past few days looking very 'confident'. From my (novice) eyes view he looked well, thick neck and heavily set with a nice rack on him.

Saturday we walked the dog round the field and came across him expectedly, i didnt see many does with him though.

He was about 30-40m from us and took not one bit of notice of us (or the dog which my wife had put on a lead as soon as we spotted said buck), just wandered off which surprised me, usually when were walking in the field the deer usually run off reasonably quickly.

Yesterday afternoon he was back along with a few does.
