Federal Fusion - not expanding?

Had another one yesterday - guest put 2 shots into the target of the bull, so we set out for the hill. Managed to find a yearling at about 130 metres, lined it up, and he put a perfect shot just behind the shoulder. When I opened her up, found a lot of rumen content, and when we got it back to the larder and had a closer look, it was a real mess. The bullet had broken the 6th rib (just about right) but turned inside the animal, burst the diaphragm, gone through a kidney and exited through the flank, just in front of the haunch. Another one for the dog food pile, not the game dealer, and I won't be using these again.

Ive just had a few more shots at the range with these fusion 150gn in 30.06 basically to use them up. all seemed fine at 200 yds until my second to last shot, on inspection of the target it appeared to have gone through the target sideways??? my last shot was ok. I only had 10 shots and the barrel wasn't warm mod tight, I really have lost the plot with these and its knocking my confidence.

As I only have a few of these left, I decided to give them one more chance today. So.....got a hind broadside at about 110 metres, just behind the shoulder, bang, thump and down it went. Closer look in the larder revealed it had broken the 6th rib and gone straight through like it should have, with an exit hole about 40mm across. So it looks like the batch I have may have had some flaws in the casings. I've only got 2 left, so I'm keeping them for zeroing, and using 150 grain soft points from now on.

In the US ideal bullet expansion is about 2,5 times calibre. For a 30 calibre bullet this is about 20mm wich is 4/5 of an inch. I also like my bullets this way. I don't like fist size holes in the deer. I want to be able to cover up the exit hole with a 2 euro coin. With these bullets you need to break the heavy shoulder bones.
The 6.5x55 probably is a tad slow for this harder type of bullet. My friend, Edi, tells me that the 6,5x55 shows him the worst results in killing deer.

I have used fusion 150gr in my sako 75 for years without any problems I tried many different bullets and found the fusion to be most consistent no problems with my last batch bought in September good luck

Its a pity your not a bit nearer to me because id willingly give you my fusion bullets , they have totally ruined my confidence in taking shots at 200yds , back to
powershok for me and several rounds back at the range to build my confidence again
