Yeah, very foolish of BASC to think that shooters might stick up for one another.
Why should we stick up for something we don't agree with just because they are shooters? And no, we won't be next. This isn't the thin end of the wedge. Cliche cliche. There are lots of deer needing shot on an annual basis.

You have to be careful. We were supposed to stick together to resist the hunting ban, but what did they do? Tried to throw shooting under the bus to save themselves, that's what.

The fact that Packham is able to make valid points about shooting (40m birds released every year without licence or understanding of the impact on the environment, shooters can't be trusted to stick to voluntary arrangements ie non-lead shot) tells you that the game shooters don't give a stuff about anybody else. So they can look after themselves. They have been told for years and just kept on abusing their freedoms. Time to reap the whirlwind.

Conor
Do we know yet how many of the 42 k are in our favour ?
No, we should expect further details when/if Natural Resources Wales publishes a summary of responses to the consultation, which is usual practice, but we are perhaps in new territory here with a potential win for shooting on the public opinion survey which won't suit the agenda of an anti-shooting Welsh government.

Conor if you have any update on the HSE lead consultation can you update one of the threads about it thanks.

Part of the issue that BASC seems to only be interested in game shooting and the majority of it being large driven days.
Not true.
They capitulated from the stance of no need to change with lead ammo to yes we’re phasing it out.
Not true.

Where were they for the air rifle shooter in the lead debate?
We are fighting a proposed ban on lead airgun pellets and I am surprised you seem unaware of this because I answered a previous question you asked on SD about this.

So you excuse me if I feel a bit dejected and can’t be ar**d about this.
Did you respond to the consultation in solidarity with Welsh shooters?

Not true.
It seems that way to me
Not true.
See the attached comments/letters/statements at the bottom, issued by BASC

You might want to publicise it on Air Rifles Uk Facebook page as there appears to be a large proportion unaware of the lead ban or ignoring it!
Did you respond to the consultation in solidarity with Welsh shooters?
As a matter of fact I did.

If that isn’t capitulation I dont know what is.

@LuckyEddie this thread is 8 pages long and running for 12 weeks and your first post in the thread, a day after the consultation closes, is to have a pop at BASC, presenting your views as fact, and deflecting onto lead ammunition, and then dragging out some article from what looks like a decade ago. So in that context please excuse the blunt response and if you are genuinely interested in a discussion/insight on all the issues you raise perhaps a phone call would be a good starting point? If that's of interest please DM or email me at conor.ogorman@basc.org.uk

People react to things in different ways.

With me things build up slowly then explode!
You could ask my family if you knew and they’d tell you that.

I joined BASC way back in the mid 80s but never found anything that supported me as an air rifle shooter apart from the insurance.
Even in those days the people that were originally in the WAGBI were complaining that they were being over looked.
They were eventually accommodated a bit more with the Wildlife Habitat stamps.
But I bet there are still a number that feel disgruntled.

So how many air rifle Facebook forums are BASC members of?
How did / do you notify the air rifle community of issues with their ammo?
Is it purely thro’ the SD and BASC membership.
Obviously there are various groups that are aware of the issue, but how aware are they that BASC are doing anything.
