Done it. Took me about eight minutes and the last three were questions about whether this legislation would encourage, or discourage the use of the Welsh language!

Indeed. Utterly irrelevant to the suggested reasons for the proposals and I said as much. In a nutshell it's government interference for the landowner to manage their land for an activity that has been carrying on without interference for literally centuries and smacks of communist state control of land. If they worried half as much about the effects on amenity to the large number of housing estates slowly eating up and concreting over greenbelt then they may have more support. These proposals should be binned. Obvious state control and loss of yet more personal freedoms. The only half way sensible suggestions were limiting size of rearing pen areas wrt total woodland area but even then, what gives them the right to interfere and tell an occupier or landowner, prescriptively, how to manage their woodland? It would have got far more support if they unveiled suggestions and tips to help landowners manage sensibly instead of imposing licensed conditions imho.

Some 79 SD members have confirmed they have responded to the consultation so far. Can we hit 100?

Thanks all for the feedback and votes so far.

For anyone unsure what to do a basic guide is as follows to completing your survey response to the consultation:

Q1: Give your name. Q2: Give your email address (optional). Q3: Ignore. Q4: Say no, because that is a ban on gamebird releasing. Qs 5-8 Say no, because these are leading questions. Qs 9-12: you can skip these questions, unless you have comments to make on whether the proposals could in any way affect opportunities for people to use the Welsh language.

Powys meeting raises fears of catastrophic game shooting restrictions

Representatives from the British Association for Shooting and Conservation, Countryside Alliance, Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust and National Gamekeepers’ Organisation spoke of concerns they had over damage that could be caused to conservation, the local economy and rural communities through restricting shooting.

They were joined by local Conservative politicians, Craig Williams, MP for Montgomeryshire and Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister; Russell George, MS for Montgomeryshire; and Simon Baynes, MP for Clwyd South.

Representatives from each shooting organisation spoke of the importance of responding to the consultation and having the voices on the ground heard.

A spokesperson for the shooting organisations said: “The NRW consultation is the biggest threat to shooting that Wales has seen to date. It is essential to respond to this if you are involved either directly or indirectly with shooting in Wales.

“It was great to get in front of a packed hall and speak to those who would be affected the most should the Welsh Government ban the releasing of gamebirds in Wales. It will be catastrophic for rural communities across Wales both in terms of conservation and the economy and, of course, people’s health and wellbeing.”

Not really, I remember the ads in the 90s of a dog being dragged by a fishing rod and line, I think the words were would you do this to your dog, the campaign was dropped so they could concentrate on fox hunting.
True, but we use barbless a lot these days:lol:
