Filling out carcass tags

Hi all,

Hoping somebody can advise…

I have recently recently completed my DSC1, and I also did the Lantra game meat hygiene level 2 to get the ‘trained hunter’ status, as it is no longer included in the dsc1.

I am now at a point where I need to start filling out carcass tags, but I am unsure which number to write in the “Hunter identification number” box. Do I use the DMQ candidate number from my dsc1 certificate? Or do I use the Lantra Learner ID number? Or is there another number? 🤯

Cheers

Use whatever number is on the certificate that says that you have passed Large Game Meat Hygiene test, regardless of which organisation issued it. For some people that will be their DSC1 certificate number, but not everyone will have done LGMH as part of their DSC1, so they shouldn't use the DSC1 number on carcass tags.

Thanks a lot everyone. Lots of conflicting answers as I thought there might be… nothing is ever straightforward when it comes to paperwork! 🤣

I might just write both numbers on there to cover all bases for now.

Planning on doing DSC2, so once complete I guess I can just use the DMQ number.

Dmq number will not do regardless of getting your level 2.... if its not covered in the dsc1 you have to do a stand alone course!... the number from THAT course is your trained hunter number!....
I did level 1 and 2 in 2001 and 2002 respectively... as there was NO trained hunter training attached to those I had to do my NGO meat hygiene training to attain trained hunter status.... and that is the number that is used when filling out tags.

LANTRA is your current qualification, so use that number.
Since you already have LANTRA you don’t need to do the game handling module as part of your DSC2 they should accept your LANTRA qualification as sufficient. However, once you complete DSC2 you can now use your DSC number on the tag because DSC2 qualification includes game handling.
Simple, isn’t it? :rofl::rofl:

Do you have a full days training on meat handling on your dsc2 now then?... or is it summat you read and then become a "trained" hunter?... just like you can become a qualified stalker by shooting one deer lol

It will be on your L1 Certificate right on the bottom if you’ve done it on your L1 course. - if it’s not on it would be safe to say you will have to get a separation training certificate
