Firearm Insurance

Does anyone have any recommendations? An older friend with no access to the forum wants to insure the value of his guns at home and in transit. He doesn't want to add firearms as "high value items" on his home insurance, mainly because he doesn't want to send a list of firearms to a high street insurer. One is never sure of the unintended consequences such a move might precipitate. I am using the word firearm for guns of all categories S1/S2/S58 etc.. Thanks.

Thanks Mike.
Sure they all want a list, but there is a difference between a highstreet home insurer and a specialist firearms insurance.

Is this a friend of another organisation at all? NRA does insure firearms as part of membership but up to a value, think you can increase the value through chatting to the supplier Endsleigh

When I first started shooting and inquired, my house contents insurer didn't want a list of anything under a certain threshold, which my guns were. Have to revisit that to see what the policy says about collections.

Regards

Mark

I am with Covea and have Firearms insured at £65k as part of personal possessions. Only the H&H is listed as a single item. Interestingly although seems a lot it doesn't make much difference to premium if they were taken off. I guess very few claims
