Hi All

Its that time again and was wondering if anyone has a standard generic consent form that they use for landowner permissions for stalking/shooting. I have quite a number of permissions and dont want to burden the landowners with too much paperwork.

Thanks in advance

Thanks for your reply, but it is a requirement of renewal that I attach a current authority to shoot on land with the application

Basc has one if memory serves.

I think the point about one is pertinent because the need aspect can only be on one permission.

As I recall doing mine, you just need to confirm the address and approximate area of your primary permission.. no authority to shoot or permission slips required.. it’ll help if your primary permission owner is one of your referees as is the case for me.

That's not a statutory requirement, all that's required is the standard application form... but how much you or your licensing dept. is willing to push on the issue either way is another question.

The good news is that you need only nominate one piece of suitable land, so choose your friendliest land owner 👍🏻

I did my renewal a few weeks ago. You only have to fill in the boxes on the renewal forms, which require acreage, and the name & contact details of the owner/agent for one permission.

In hindsight, I would have included all of the land I have to shoot over. The one I did include was the closest 860 acres to me. The conversation with the FEO went something like this "So you have 860 acres to shoot over", I replied "No, I have many permissions totalling nearly 3000 acres, but you only asked for one to be included" Some scribbling by the FEO followed this.
Everything seems to be logged on the system, so I would give them all the info about any land you have to shoot over.

Also, they only need to be satisfied that you will be using your rifles, you don’t need to list all land, you should not be restricted to land you have listed. A paid/booked stalk is sufficient proof. Next week will be somewhere else.

Yes,
My advice would be to include details of every scrap of land you have to shoot over. My ticket has been open from the get-go.

My recent home visit was fine, I just got the impression that you can be walked into self-inflicted "Traps" for want of a better description, my FEO started talking about alarms almost straight away, had I been gullible and said something like "Oh. Do you want me to install an alarm?" I'm sure they would have jumped at the chance... just my take on the experience.

Completely agree that you could talk yourself into more than necessary, however too much info is also a problem, like really annoying the landowners or generating unnecessary questions. Exactly where you have permission is none of their business, as long as you have good reason and you are not a risk to public safety, i.e. of good character.

In theory you need a future booking that can be verified , that could be a day or two booked in that the coppers can confirm . But is a note from your current permission not able to be used ?
