First purchase of ammo

Hello peeps
I yesterday purchased my first rifle along with a box of bullets and moderator.
I have registered the rifle and mod online. obviously not wanting to get a call from my FAO for failing to inform them of my purchase. Should i inform FAO that ive purchased ammo etc etc.
its just i didn't ask the question and i wasn't told that i should or shouldn't..

You should be best recording your use of ammo and where for your own good as proof of use at renewals etc . But its not law its the best thing for a New guy. 100% the RFD will want to record your receiving live ammo on your cert at any amount of experiance.

Buying bullets doesnt need any info, buying rounds they are entered on your certificate.
Other records prove nothing and arent required in law
I believe we have seen some forces asking RFDs to report component ammo parts to be recorded with ID . We now have to show our Cert to buy primers i think ? I still have a lot of them so i haven't been asked

Not wishing to hijack this thread but.....

Ammunition acquisition. No need to report due to it being written into your certificate by the RFD.

Ammunition disposal. When ever I have sold on ammunition either because I have moved to a different type or, to fellow shooters where I have purchased on their behalf when I'm at an RFD, I have informed the police of the disposal. I "believe" that's what I needed to do?

If you're selling or giving away ammo to somebody, you need to enter the details in the relevant section of their certificate, but there's no need to notify anyone you've disposed of it. No different to if you'd taken the whole lot to the range and fired it off.

Yes, I always fill in their FAC. Just that I inform Humberside also, I'm probably overthinking things and taking my housekeeping too seriously.

What do you mean….recorded with id?
Thanks, Ken.

Have only ever done that when doing a one for one variation for a firearm in a different chambering - ie making a declaration that I no longer hold any ammunition for the old rifle.

Some of the best bargains to be had on ammo are from folk who, a year or two after disposing of a rifle, suddenly realise they've still got a couple of boxes of rounds of that calibre in the safe, and their renewal inspection is pending 😆

You have been required to show an FAC (or other good reason) to buy primers since the VCR act of 2006. And most RFD`s will require the same for powders nowadays. Both of which I have no problem with.

There's no 'probably' about it. You are wasting your time and that of the police by notifying them of something you do not have to and which they are not interested in.
What a pointless exercise. On par with informing the police every time you carry out any other legal activity.

It might help for recording keeping to take the FEO stalking, then as you shoot each cartridge he can update your records.

Seriously as long as you are within your FAC allowance everything is fine.
