Fishing with a shotgun

I have two shotgun fishing stories that are shareable (and several more that are not)

First involved my son, when he was old enough and responsible enough to go out on his own with a shotgun, with no direct supervision. We had a live stream that flowed over a limestone bed on the farm. I was at one end doing some fencing or the like, while he grabbed a 20 gauge and went up stream. I assume he was going to shoot the squirrels that were up at that end. In short order I heard a pair of shot, and then another pair a little while later. Then I noticed minnows and chubs floating downstream. Turns out the squirrels had not obliged but the fish had. He later expla8ned that he had a curiosity about what happens when you shoot into water at a school of fish.

Second involved flying carp. In the US we have had an explosion of introduced Asian carp (big head, silver, Amur, etc..) and they leap from the water when startled. This has led to several emergency room visits from pleasure boaters and water skiers that have taken a 5 to 25# fish to the head or chest. Some people I know, decided that they would try their hand at intentionally flushing the carp and shooting with shotguns, and they were successful.

Others actually bowfish for these carp. And a select few loons have a totally different tack https://peoriacarphunters.com/pictures-and-videos
