Fitting a scope level

Well firstly is it scope or rail mounted?
This is what I do requires a plumb line spirit level plate glass and a work mate.
I do mine in the kitchen looking down the garden where I have a plumb line

Scope mounted.
Place rifle in on Workmate and align rifle so you can see your plumb line
Mark scope position in rings so you can replace in same place.
Take off the top rings and scope.
Put a piece of plate glass across the bottom halves and put a spirit level across the glass. Twist rifle to ensure spirit level is in centre. Lock rifle solid.
Remove level and glass refit scope and align on plumb line. Continually check that scope does not twist as you tighten up top ring screws.
When done attach scope level and fix so bubble reads correctly.

Rail mounted.

All above steps but you fix level to rail.
However I find it's rarely in centre but no issue just mark where the bubble is and use accordingly.

I have levels fitted on 3 rifles. Rarely need to use them however did find them v useful on .22lr and air rifle when shooting up/down along step banks.

On my N470s it has an internal cant indicator which I find very handy at night when shooting off sticks on slopes.
