What price are seresto collars coming in at now ?

Using bravecto but thinking I’d prefer the “ chemical “ on outside of the dog to they inside … yeah ok I get absorption etc but hey!…. That’s my basic logic

Frontline seems not to work now, yet if you spray teh tick/flea, it still dies. It was never great for ticks though becasue it was only ever on the surface so the flea, in running around, picked up enough to die. The tick stays still so doesn't get enough. Advantix and the Bravecto/simparica products work really well, with very few side effects recorded. I'm aware of the link to epilepsy, although its not an absolute link, not least as epilepsy is poorly understood anyway.
However, many vets (self included) are moving away from regular/blanket parasite treatment due to the probability that they are part of the reason for insect decline. Ticks are a nuisance for the dogs, rahter than a major problem, so currenlty I'm picking them off!

Exactly my thoughts in your last couple of sentences.
I prefer to treat the problem if it arises more than continuous medication of the dog thats unnecessary alot of the time.
A daily brush over the dog sees issues nipped pretty quickly.

I dont treat with either flea or tick chemicals . I do worm, i do pick maybe a tick a year off the labs ( belly or eyebrow) . Ticks are here but the sheep are regular dosed . First reason was fish second was weighing up the risks to the dogs themselves from the chemicals v getting complications from the pest.
Am i wrong ?

The risk to the dogs is miniscule, loads teasted, loads used. Yes reports of problems and an extra safety note to be careful in epileptic dogs. Risk to adult dogs from most parasites found in the UK - very low likelihood of occuring and few are a problem. Heartworm is a tricky one, but one can do regular tests. Risks to fish - low, but risk to invertebrates that the fish feed on is high

Frontline became pretty much useless when it removed the main ingredient permethrin. It's now found in a spot on called vectra 3d pack of 3 for dogs 10-25kg is about £20 online and no prescription the area i am in is infested with ticks since using this on my kennel dogs and seresto collars on the house dogs i've not had a single tick. Not keen on the tablets that last so long in the doga system, not keen on chemicals either if honest but needs must and these 2 seem to work for me

Frontline is fipronil, Frontline plus/combo was fipronil and a pyrethroid, (s-methoprene or permerthrin). The pyrethroid was there to counter the flea eggs that kept the population going. Vectra isn't fipronil, but does have the permethrin in it.

Babesia yes. But v rare.
Lyme - dogs certainly have antibodies, but it's more a diagnosis of last resort for the sudden onset malaise/arthritis. The numebr of cases of true Lyme are really very small indeed.

If babesia is very rare and the number of cases of lymes very small, why use an anti-tick medication? Thanks in advance for explaining
