Tell me more about this flock coating of antlers, I'm truly curious as it's not something that I've encountered other than on car dashboards before.I am looking for someone that would flock coat an old set of fallow antlers. They need rebuilding and then flocking. If anyone can help I would be grateful. Thanks
Thanks for your responseCar restorers do flocking, it is not too difficult to do. I was involved on it with car gloveboxes years back.
Yes it's to imitate the velvet on the antlers. If your unlucky enough to shoot one still in velvet it can be injected but sometimes, you're not quick enough and that's what happened with a fallow buck a few years ago for me so it needs rebuilding and flock coatingTell me more about this flock coating of antlers, I'm truly curious as it's not something that I've encountered other than on car dashboards before.
Is it to give the appearance of antlers in velvet?
Sometimes they are just a bit too soft underneath to strip the velvet and stainI've heard of guys who have shot deer in velvet stripping the velvet and staining the antlers before, but not of anyone wanting to replace lost velvet. So, something new learned today.![]()
Sometimes Stripping velvet Is necessary, a quite good video here though.
