Available: Foxing Permission

Don't pay for fox shooting but i do a lot of mole catching for land owners and charge £8 a mole and permission to shoot on that land
Is that the price per mole?? I caught over 70 moles one summer in a 30 acres field. Whole farm is 250 acres, but moles only hit the one field.

£8 a mole. You’re a bargain
Most would be a fixed charge for the first visit , £80 / £100

Then a tenner a mole after that.

When you pay to shoot deer it's pest control so it wouldn't surprise me if people pay to shoot foxes. It's basically the same thing as far as I can see

I can see the thought, but venison has an intrinsic value for its meat and as a trophy.

I suppose historic sporting value also attracts the same monetary value, whereas foxing isn’t generally seen as a feat of sport in its own right.

Farming is tough nowadays :-| Some think they have something special to offer, whether it's deer, foxes, rabbits etc etc and will will always try to make a buck from something they should be paying for or at least not charging for. It would be nice to see the day when all stalkers and vermin controllers were paid for their results and they only paid for the opportunity of taking something that was special, like that medal stag or bock

My uncle is paid to shoot vermin however he also runs a syndicate on the same ground I've never asked for the details regarding it but I imagine some sort of payment changes hands(?)

Loads of deer around unlimited stags and hinds, optional occasional fallow, and two roe bucks yearly and unlimited rabbits, so its not really the foxes that are the lure of the syndicate tbf.

It’s against my northern religion to pay for any shooting 😂 be it foxes, deer, rabbits or winged, ( I’ve paid a lot of money for my kit and I’m not giving anyone any more when I’m doing them a service, i will sometimes invite them on a pheasant day or drop them some venison off ) I would go against this for driven wild boar though 👍

I have never considered fox shooting a sport and only shoot them or kill them where there are game or lamb crimes. I must admit it is something that bothers me when people shoot them as a sport just because they are there. Stalking is a thing that gives me pleasure but there is an end result, restricted damage and food.

Am torn on the subject of shooting a fox as a sport as always been hard wired to kill them for conservation reasons but also love them as a creature and have always fascinated me but do find disposing of them satisfying and get a buzz from doing so.
Only now shoot and mainly at night for the betterment of partridges and if honest because I like it for reasons I cannot explain.🤷🏽‍♂️

Me too , it is benefiting all our ground nesters , especially as we have Curlew , Lapwing , Partridge and Grouse.
Fox shooting to me is much more challenging and enjoyable whereas shooting deer is easy and not that much of a challenge.

Difficult subject but would turn down a shot at a deer if a fox presented itself on my travels even when it meant clearing the pitch, even worse torture if out with paying guest and a gift from the gods presents itself. This view is a uplands perspective only🙂

Never turn down the opportunity of shooting a fox even when out stalking. Many a time shot a deer and fox on same outing..doesn't seem to bother the deer hearing a shot go off.20231022_174244.webp

Would never pay for foxing, and wouldn't do the foxes regularly on somewhere that i don't get to shot deer or walked up but very lucky to have a decent amount of ground. The times i've went to places i'm not on after getting a call about problem foxes has either lead to getting the shooting there, which i accept,or the person offering to pay but it's not something i've taken them up on.
Get free reign on all places so the vermin and moles are done without asking and as it's something i enjoy then it's all part of my hobbies.

Shot on sight on all of my ground, but that is due to the wild grey partridge population that have flourished since I’ve been on there.

To me that is a perfectly justifiable reason for shooting them and obviously not for sport. I do the same as we are an all wild bird place. We too have Grey's, although foxes are not the main problem.

Not really available or wanted but more a subject for discussion.
Just interested to know if anyone pays for a foxing permission as it is a very popular hobby.
I suppose I could make it into a poll but initially just wanted to get some views on the subject.
I hope there’s no chicken farmers or shepherds reading this…🙈
I get eggs and Lamb from each and Whisky from both at Xmas…😊
