Available: FREE stalk opportunity for someone who hasn't shot a deer before.

Ok, so it's not really a stalk in the purist sense of the word as the deer are within an enclosed area, and it's not really free as you'll be expected to pay for the carcass, but at least the headline got you looking!

So, here's the deal:
I'm offering for someone who's not yet shot their first deer to come and cull a fallow pricket within the relatively controlled environment of one of my deer parks. (When I say "controlled" I mean that in so far as if something goes badly wrong we will be able to sort it out without risk of losing a wounded animal. The actual stalk will be no different from stalking a wild deer, and just as challenging).
I'll then teach you how to gralloch it, and we'll put it in my chiller.
A few days later, under my tuition, you'll learn to butcher the whole thing and it will all be vac packed and labelled for you to take home. If there's time we can make some burgers too.
For the period that it's hanging, you could either enjoy a few days break in this fantastic area (there's loads of places to stay, and some good campsites, or if you're into wild camping I could probably find you a place on the farm) or, if you don't live too far away, you could go home after shooting the deer and come back another day to butcher it.

Estate rifle available, or you'd be welcome to bring your own.
Some prior rifle shooting experience needed, and preferably DSC1, as there are some important considerations such as limited backstops and close proximity of footpaths that would be better handled by someone with a bit of experience.
Own insurance required (eg, BASC membership) as you're not coming as a paying client.
The price of the carcass will be more than game dealer price, but less than half the value of the venison you'll be taking home. (More details by PM).

If interested, drop me a PM with a bit of background info. I'll do a draw out of all the suitable applicants.
Standard SD 30 days / 30 posts rule applies.
Please title your PM "stalk offer", so I can easily identify it among other, non-related, messages.

Dates to be mutually agreed, but probably early or mid September.

Any questions, just ask.

As with any stalking situation, there is no guarantee that you will get a deer, although I can at least guarantee that you'll see some! In the event that the stalk is unsuccessful you will be able to come back another time and try again.

I’ve never shot a deer before……. honest!🤣🤣🤣

An amazing offer & great way to start out/gain practical knowledge under your tutelage for one lucky novice. Very generous VSS & yet another example of the SD at its best :tiphat:

It was a similar offer on here that introduced me to stalking in the first place. Prior to that I very little knowledge of deer and zero experience of stalking.
(Longstanding members may well remember my write up at the time. No deer were shot, or even seen, but even so I ended up hooked!)

I'd like to think I've come quite a long way since then, and it's time to give back a bit of what I've gained.

Fantastic to see someone offering this, great opportunity for a youngster to learn/get involved

Apologies for raising this but I think its very important....is the estate rifle a .270 😅

Best to warn any potential applicants in advance :)

Ecellent offer, i've sadly not got experience of shooting a rifle or i'd enter for it. been on my bucket list but it's an expensive day out for me

I'm not expecting anyone to have extensive prior shooting experience, but on the other hand I don't want to be having to teach someone which end they put on their shoulder and which end they point at the deer. There won't really be time for that. So some previous experience is needed, if only a little.
Likewise, some knowledge of safe shots etc. DSC1 isn't essential, but if someone has DSC1 then I do at least know what their base level of knowledge is, so I'd prefer it. However, I'm happy to consider any of the other options by which someone might have attained the little bit of basic prior knowledge that's required for their name to be put in the hat.
