Gamefair anybody bothering?

Just got back. Enjoyed it. Good banter with loads of friends, old and new - including a party of Dutch stalkers. Gunmakers' Row was the biggest I can remember in recent years. Rigby had a plush safari camp-style stand with Jim Corbett's .275 on display in a glass case with accompanying letters etc. Lancaster had a type of non-toxic and biowaddded shotgun ammo I had never heard of before, in both 2 3/4 and 2.5 inch chamber lengths, for standard proof guns. BASC stand was huge and lively. I was told that either 27k or 22k members had attended the last game fair with their tickets, and this one is looking even busier. BDS were there - and friendly, I must admit! CA offered me a very welcome cold drink, even though I am not a member. GWCT had a big presence. No sign of NGO, sadly.

Only disappointment was that I couldn't find anywhere to try out Leica and Swaro binos - maybe I missed something? Tons of TI stuff, but I haven't gone over to the dark (bright?) side... yet.

Huge interest in the new Ineos Grenadier.

Watching the gundogs was humbling, as always.

Weather today was much cooler than yesterday, I was told.

As above, just got back and i found it very good!
Spent a few quid, ordered couple of double high seats and a doe box , but at decent prices .

A very enjoyable day !

Just got back home . Met up with VSS and 4 other SD members + mouse and Mrs VSS where presant for the party in the park. 😉🍻

The stepson was with me eyes popping out of his head at the short skirts and boots. I could not find any crayons for sale for his ramming harness 🤣🤣🤣🤣

If your bringing a dog, keep it with you at all times, someone has stolen a cocker from the back of a truck, the travelling community are present, so it’s most likely them.

Went today, it was good like 70% of the gamefair of old.....fishing and game keepering supplies not much in evidence. Entry for non BASC steep, but no traffic queues in or out and plenty decent toilets big plus.

Went yesterday, had a good day but didn't come away with anything other than a new yeti mug! My lad managed to kit himself out with some new gear and bust some clays on the CPSA stand though so not too bad. Got sick of the sight of instagram ****s in Fairfax and f kin favour boots.

One downside was it was more like walking around appleby horse fair than a game fair... A mate of mine had a small stand, Warks rural policing team had two trucks parked 30m away, parents stood talking to them whilst one of the scrotey little rats was filling a bag with merchandise. soon put hit back when challenged but makes you wonder how many stall holders big or small get rinsed by them?

I went yesterday, it was generally ok, some good deals on high end Pulsars and other thermals , Unfortunately as said already , did resemble Appleby horse fair, don't think i will bother for another few years, The Stalking show is the one I'm more likely to revisit on a yearly basis

Lot of security on the clothing stands, and like you say lot of the travelling community about.

Good day out but expensive. Food was extortionate this year.

Went yesterday with the family and was nice not to be manning our own stand for a change!

All in all we had a great day out, took our own food and drink and benefited from the the BASC discount; had a chance to look at new products & made a few purchases.

Took our Border puppy so she had her first experience of mass-socializing with other Border's and being made fuss of by lots of "easy on the eye" ladies in short skirts :)

As mentioned above, lots of travelling fraternity in attendance, so don't think Monarch will have a stand here anytime soon.

Had a great weekend camping there, met up with VSS, Mouse and family. The kids were adopted by the under 10s Welsh rugby team in the insane camping setup opposite our own more minimalist one. YPM had a great time at the archery stand, and the International Cossacks show in the main arena was extraordinary. Ok, we couldn't find any neoprene lined wellies for YPM, which is crazy. I mean the one thing I'd expect to be able to find at the Game Fair is wellies, but there you go. The Rigby stand was great with artists working there and taking the time to explain to interested young ones. Unfortunately the editor of Shooting Times had left so couldn't have my book signed.

Still, great day out.

We went yesterday and enjoyed it, not as much as the 5 lads at the cider tent though! More gun stalls than I remember from last time we went, and more choice of somewhat overpriced food. Totally agree with NoIDeer, far too many dogs looking really unhappy in the heat.
And apparently one got stolen from a truck 🛻 sad but I have to ask what was it doing in a truck in such warm weather window was smashed !
