Gamo Gas ram airgun

Alright folks.

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with Gamo airguns, in paticular the gas ram 1 with a 10 shot mag??
I forget the model now

Not a lot off money and quite like having the multi shot mag.
Just quite new into the shop so the lad didnae have much info about just how accurate it is.
Not looking for anything fancy just to be able to hold a group at 30-40m will do wot i need.
At similar money in a pcp ur looking at single shot actions

I need an airgun, got rabbits to shoot i just cant shoot safely with my rimmys.
Been looking 2nd hand for a while but never anything close ( althou i did manage to buy 1 last summer but it was a disaster, got my fingers well and truely burnt)

If you want to shoot anything accurately at 30-40m I really wouldn't suggest a springer. And def not a budget springer.

With an awful awful lot of practice it could be done with reasonable success.

Or you could buy a PCP and be shooting more accurately than your 22LR to 40m within about 1 hour (wind permitting).

Buy a used Air Arms/Weirauch or a new Turkish PCP- Reximex, Hatsan etc.

What’s your budget ?

Its 1 of those budgets that varies, ur trying to get good value but not wanting to buy rubbish, ( already a 200 quid down + a new stirrup pump from my last disaster) and u keep thinking an extra 50 or 100 quid and before u know it its a lot of cash .
That air gun is 300 new with a cheapy scope on it
Would do the job i think, prob only be shooting 30 or 40 rabbits with it this summer

Its a gas ram rather than spring, they say that helps the recoil.
After my last disaster buying a 2nd hand pcp im a bit wary of them now.
And nothing close by anyway

Hello, Where are you in UK

Gas rams are still equally difficult to shoot accurately as springers.

What PCP did you buy and have probs with?

If you must buy a springer/gas ram- buy a Weirauch- a HW99 is best as its designed for UK power levels. There's usually one or two on guntrader. 22 is a little easier to shoot.

But I wouldn't suggest shooting past 25 yards with any springer/gas ram.

They also dont like resting on bipods- so they are v diffocult to shoot accurately.

A friend of mine has just bought a Reximex Lyra which looks to be a very nice bit of kit for the £360 it cost him.

There was an HW 35 on the classifieds back in May. Might still be available

I’d look for a secondhand German springer myself likes .

I've got to disagree with the blanket suggestion that springers are difficult to shoot!
I recently got a HW77 for less than £200 and it shoots tiny groups and shoots in awkward positions and or rested.
Sublime trigger and not particularly pellet fussy.
I've been shooting varmints with it beyond 40yds for weeks now and a few 50yd plus!

Aye i grew up with springers as a kid too.

Its only for a couple of bits too dodgy to shoot with the rimmy.

Just dont want to waste any more money.
I do believe u get wot u pay for, buy once cry once etc.
But i know ill only be shooting 30 -50 rabbits a year with it, so wont be getting a lot of use and the pcps im looking at always seem to end up 5,6 or 800 quid, just a lot of money for something u know wont get a lot of use.

Hello, Where are you in UK CB ??

I did buy a falcon but it was never right, bouncing of a thin plastic bucket at 5m.
Now got pellets stuck up barrel.
Just not worth throwing any money at it, i imagine be a nightmare getting pellets out barrel now.
My own fault for not test firing it 1st, but an expensive lesson for me.

Reximex lyra or lyra K and you're sorted.

But if you want a springer- HW99

Hello, Ok , Just had a cheap 177 but not able to post

Sell a lot of air guns here, gamo are underpowered but accurate, fastest of the cheap guns is the crossman shockwave, accurate as the shooter.
Recoil between spring or IGT is difficult to detect, but IGT is quieter, your 30 cal hatsan, may be only 570 fps but accurate to 40 yds.
Most people are disappointed by air guns, if they are used to rimfire s, as an air gun takes a lot more skill to shoot accurately.

The falcon is probably a very easy fix.
If it holds air?? It might only need adjustment.
I'd be willing to look at it if you cover postage.

For plinking and targets I have to say air guns are great fun.

But for serious hunting tools- at least in sub 12ft lb form- both 177 and 22 i have been been disappointed with too.

I have shot 1000s of rats successfully with air rifles.

But 100s of squirrels and rabbits with air guns and its amazing what seems to have survived. Its super easy to wound animals with air guns. Even when you think you have done everything right- the pellets killing capacity is just so marginal- things can go wrong super easily. I have had some bad experiences with 177s and rabbits too actually.

Its probably true that in the absolute perfect shot placement- air rifles are up to the job. But if you're even a few mm off- often you end up with wounded quarry.

You also need a rangefinder to be remotely accurate with them.

I must admit I have found a .22 and a rangefinder the most efficient for squirrels/rabbits.

PS- with a ballistic digital scope, low wind and a FAC .25 £2K gun- ridiculous accuracy and killing capacity is possible!
