I found a nice set of sika antlers which have been lying for a while as 1 side of them has turned green. Has anyone any tips on getting rid of the green, and restoring some colour ??

Bleach them with hydrogen peroxide then re stain them potassium permanganate to colour them brown

Leave them white dont stain them bits its a slow process just keep applying the permanganate till you get the dark colour you require on the areas you want brown

Just soak the antler in a weak solution for a couple of days or until white i usually wrap tissue paper around the antlers to help it soak in then lay them in a tray to soak

I just get the weak stuff in bottles from the chemist not sure what it is 7% i guess its like the mouth wash one, if your using paste like what a hair dresser uses just keep an eye on it or it will eat into the antler if left to long as long as you dont leave it for weeks you should be fine

375, I am getting a bit mixed up lol
potassium, which I should get from the chemist, does it come as a solution or in crystal form ? If it is crystal, how much water should I mix it with ?
i am getting the peroxide from my sister in law who is a hairdresser, I assume this is the really strong stuff ?? Do I need to dilute that ? I will be putting it on with cotton wool
thanks for your help, and sorry for being a pain in the a*s !

The peroxide will be fine from the hairdressers just keep an eye on it while its soaking take the antler out when white.
The potassium comes in crystal form (purple) and you add small amounts of crystal to a small amount of water ( table spoon ) it goes a long way, when the antler is bleached dry it out for a few days then mix your crystals with water and paint on with a small artist paint brush but only paint the areas that you want brown then just let it dry and repeat the process until you have the desired colour it does work but takes a while to get dark.
