GRT

I m just getting into using GRT. I’ve been messing about with it and made a load that was with in load off viht web site, it produced some good nodes but speed is slow which GRT predicted. So I’ve been messing around with another powder but vihts website max is showing well under pressure in GRT. I need to be 2-4 grains over max to where I would want to be testing. Do people find published load data to be that reserved, or have messed up some where

Load data is getting more and more conservative IMHO. There was a post I believe on here a number of years ago showing how it had reduced through various revisions in a well-known manufacturers book.

Provided you are sensible and build an appropriate test ladder, starting within the stated powder table data, you'll be ok but do look carefully for any signs of too high a pressure.

My only issue is im running a r8 blaser and im slightly nervous over not been able to notice pressure signs been a straight pull and ejector marks. I know flattening primers and sooty cases. I’ll be right when I get used to it

Well I’ve survived it. Finally got out to test my grt load. I used my 260 bolt action to be sure I could feel pressure signs. Got some good results compared to viht load website.
Viht 150
Berger 130 vld target

Viht website
32.3 - 37.3
2431 - 2674 fps

My load working up to grt
36.2 - 38 ( working up from viht checking pressure)

Grt experiment
50,000 to 60,000 psi
38.3 - 40.5
2831 - 2966
I got ejector mark and a slight heavy bolt on last load at 40.5.

Please if you see alarming please comment as I’m new to grt load development

Not really alarming but you mentioned Blaser above but worked up the load in a bolt action. Have I misunderstood? Two different loads? What's safe in one rifle isn't necessarily so in another so just be cautious if you're going to use the same load in the Blaser.

I have made a load to test with my 6.5 r8. Then because I wasn’t sure about pressure signs with the blaser I made a different load for my 260 bolt action and thought I’d try with that first as I’m confident with loading for that
