Just looking to insure a shotgun I am receiving as it is worth a lot more than my previous guns and not sure who offers the best insurance/cover, I am after accidental damage and theft cover etc so just wondering who you have used and what your experiences are like with them.
cheers

stick it on your house insurance as a specified item in the all risks section.

Most insurance companies are happy with that, although a few won't provide cover
Yes, you can put it on your all risks schedule but you’ll probably need to specify it and provide a valuation.
Your comprehensive car insurance may also provide cover if it’s stolen from the car.

Unless it is an antique or exceptional - RRP is all that is required. Bill of sale - keep this document. If its new for old - the insurance should cover the cost of replacement at the future dates price. If it is antique or exceptional - a valuation will help.
If your household insurer will accept firearms - then how they approach it may vary. You need to ask - dont assume.
Most policies have maximum limits and max limits for certain things. Depending on the value - you may not need to "specify" it.
What has not been made clear is that All Risks cover covers items taken off your home address - typically world wide. There will be territorial limits so check if this is applicable. When at home - they are covered by the contents section.
If you want accidental damage under contents then you might have to ask for it as it is not generally covered as a std policy benefit.
Record the date and time and the name of the person you speak to. It could save your arse at a later date if there is any contention.

Make sure it is all risks in and away from home. Get a realistic valuation. New for old on a Purdey may have a higher premium than you expect!

It’s not a purdey but i have been very fortunate and won’t be getting a receipt at least I hope not for what I paid for it.
it is however something that it it got damaged or stolen I wouldn’t want to have to replace it out of my own pocket.
i am wanting accidental damage and cover away from the home as it is going to get used probably as my main shotgun.
just thought that some on here might of used different insurance companies and had experience of having to claim or just customer service and which may offer the best value.
