So what's the connection?Probably not a popular opinion on here but in my head that's £160+£60 doctors note.
£220 for 5 years, £44 a year.
That seems pretty good to me. A 20 box of decent .308 rounds is more than that
Whilst I agree, the level of service most FLD’s provide is pretty poor. They would not survive ten minutes in a commercial setting.Probably not a popular opinion on here but in my head that's £160+£60 doctors note.

What on god's earth are talking about? £60 for shoelaces? So what's the connection?
Do you also think £60 for a pair of shoelaces would be good value?
Peanuts compared to the cost of a good pair of boots. But most people would think the comparison completely irrelevant, because wjat matters is what the value of the thing being supplied is.What on god's earth are talking about? £60 for shoelaces?
IT is, but that is irrelevant. It is a rip off for the value of what you are being provided with....i.e. the experience of subjecting yourself to tedious and intrusive red tape for the exclusive benefit of other people.I'm saying £44 a year to have a SGC/FAC to be able to shoot is absolute peanuts compared to the cost of everything else associated with shooting.
Long grass. Nobody in this government will be seen dead de-regulating anything, least of all gun-related.Hopefully taking moderators off tickets will free up the workload and improve the service, speaking of moderators does anyone have a clear update on what is happening with them?
It just got Royal Assent, it’s essentially just awaiting a decision to be made for a date to have it take effectHopefully taking moderators off tickets will free up the workload and improve the service, speaking of moderators does anyone have a clear update on what is happening with them?
The workload is what it is, you get your renewal, you fill your ticket up with ammunition and submit, then they have all the tile in the world.Hopefully taking moderators off tickets will free up the workload and improve the service, speaking of moderators does anyone have a clear update on what is happening with them?
Still cheaper than 5k plus a year on fagsIs what it is, you have 2 choices , pay the price or hand your guns in!
Simple as that really.
That will be because that certificate is not in any way connected with guns and really irrelevant to this topic. And yet the pedlars' licence - known as a Pedlars Certificate - remains unchanged at the £12.25 amount it was last increased to in 1985.
When I asked, on here, why BASC were not querying that (as it is administered by the police) I was accused of "Whataboutery" by their contributor. But I'll ask again. If licences issued by the police are required to cover full cost recovery why has the pedlar's licence (known in fact as a "Pedlars Certificate") not increased for forty years?
This was from the last, as far as I know, government consultation in 2014. So is this promoted in 2025 "full cost recovery" about any such thing in regard to other police functions or is it really punitive fees charged to lawful gun users masquerading as such. Here's the link to the 2014 Review. Perhaps SD members might ask their MP why the Pedlar's Certificate hasn't gone up to also cover "full cost recovery"?
This is on page 18:
The estimated cost of processing an application was usually more than the income generated from the £12.25 certificate fee but variedconsiderably between £12.56 and £75. For some forces, the administration was thereforea drain on resources while for others using a shorter process, it was much lesssignificant.
