Do you also think £60 for a pair of shoelaces would be good value?
Whilst I agree, the level of service most FLD’s provide is pretty poor. They would not survive ten minutes in a commercial setting.
Most, if not all, FLD’s are underfunded, I am not blaming the staff at all

I'm saying £44 a year to have a SGC/FAC to be able to shoot is absolute peanuts compared to the cost of everything else associated with shooting.
Peanuts compared to the cost of a good pair of boots. But most people would think the comparison completely irrelevant, because wjat matters is what the value of the thing being supplied is.
IT is, but that is irrelevant. It is a rip off for the value of what you are being provided with....i.e. the experience of subjecting yourself to tedious and intrusive red tape for the exclusive benefit of other people.
Long grass. Nobody in this government will be seen dead de-regulating anything, least of all gun-related.

It just got Royal Assent, it’s essentially just awaiting a decision to be made for a date to have it take effect

And yet the pedlars' licence - known as a Pedlars Certificate - remains unchanged at the £12.25 amount it was last increased to in 1985.
When I asked, on here, why BASC were not querying that (as it is administered by the police) I was accused of "Whataboutery" by their contributor. But I'll ask again. If licences issued by the police are required to cover full cost recovery why has the pedlar's licence (known in fact as a "Pedlars Certificate") not increased for forty years?
This was from the last, as far as I know, government consultation in 2014. So is this promoted in 2025 "full cost recovery" about any such thing in regard to other police functions or is it really punitive fees charged to lawful gun users masquerading as such. Here's the link to the 2014 Review. Perhaps SD members might ask their MP why the Pedlar's Certificate hasn't gone up to also cover "full cost recovery"?

The workload is what it is, you get your renewal, you fill your ticket up with ammunition and submit, then they have all the tile in the world.
Still cheaper than 5k plus a year on fags

That will be because that certificate is not in any way connected with guns and really irrelevant to this topic.

Police Scotland told me yesterday that moderators would be off ticket in the next couple months so we shall see.
I’m interested to see how it will be administered for the moderators we already have. Will they just not be mentioned in subsequent changes or will they still be on there until renewal
