Exactly. If it had taught them anything, surely it is that they must investigate properly where doubt exists and make sure they have done all they reasonably can to find the truth?Sadly post the shootings at Plymouth anyone close to going to the police with stories regarding your “ suitability “ to have firearms are going to be taken much more more seriously especially where it’s a partner or former partner/wife. I am just surprised the police do not interview you during the process as part of coming to a decision
That says it all ! Still serving yet enough of a transgression to loose your guns but not your job !Hmmm. It seems that the “ex’, rightly or wrongly, has made some sort of claim/allegation which I guess the police are duty bound to act upon when firearms are involved. The problem now is disproving it - I don’t hold out much hope especially if there is already bad blood. I know of a number of guys who lost their guns because of uncorroborated allegations - one of them a senior serving officer!
Hell hath no fury…….

just watched this , do they have the power of enter with a warrant ?
have BASC responded to this .
So basically you are telling us that at any time the police can turn up and without giving a reason confiscate your guns and revoke your certificates. The only way you can go against this decision is court.which may cost 20-30k. That I'm afraid does indicate a semi police state where gun numbers can be reduced for your average person due to financial implications. If you are well heeled you can fight it if you are prepared to throw enough money at it.Guns will be removed following an allegation weather its historic or current. Once the flm has investigated spoken with all concerned a decision will then be made. If there is no case to answer you guns will be returned. If there is the licence holder will be invited in for a chat. Guns will be returned or the holder will be revoked the holder can then go through the appeal process.
Too much in the media re armed cops turning up with out a warrant raiding folks home.
This is standard practice to send arv its simply easier logistically both on a paper work side and a practical side. The arv crews have access to armoury and are familiar with the process. Basc ngo and similar organisations have no authority or powers they will simply advise to cooperate then seek legal assistance during the enquiry interview phase.
Now that is interesting - frightening but interesting. Can I take it that the husband has reciprocal entitlement in the same circumstances then? Or am I just being overly optimistic?Just to point out that a woman going through divorce/breakup will not get legal aid unless they’ve gone through mediation first…..unless there is an accusation of abuse or violence. This is frequently abused to get an advantage by some.

Read my post fully they are not my beliefs this is what happens, there are procedures in place. Removing guns is basically removing the risk so that an investigation can proceed. So basically you are telling us that at any time the police can turn up and without giving a reason confiscate your guns and revoke your certificates. Something drastically wrong in this and by your beliefs we are wastng out time belonging to any organisation because they can do nothing, the police have a monopoly.

If you have done nothing wrong you will get you guns back. If they don't return them they must have substantial grounds for holding them. If you disagree take them to court if you win you don't pay the fees
