"The orgs would do well to be on the lookout for winnable appeals to fund". AND be willing to explain the reasoning behind swerving that option.
I sincerely agree with this proposal - I would also add it does not need to be a member - winning anything would help those who are members and encourage those who currently see certain orgs as a lost cause. e.g. Watching BASC's response to the latest JR from WJ is not inspiring and would certainly not encourage me to rejoin.
BASC's complete acceptance of the response to the PACE recommendations/acceptance of the 5 year phase out of lead (EU consultation) is also disappointing since we have been on the Brexit trail for years and where we are now could have easily been anticipated - Norway's experience of lead could have been a touchstone for a concerted campaign via the 'supportive' MP's to add this EU requirement to those to be ditched now that we are talking about Brexit freedoms - but it isn't - still the clay days continue.
A whole country cant be wrong but, naturally, BASC is right - sadly another time it isn't.
No evidence-no change looks very sick indeed.

Well I have emailed the person in charge asking for information for why licenses going to be revoked I have held licenses for sg fa for 40 years with no issues so asked why I have not been spoken to when the police that investigated the issue and my firearms officer who I have known for 20 years did not have any issues.
So I will wait now to see if I get a meeting with them.
Thanks everyone

BASC (or any org) wouldn’t want Leigh Day acting for them, they are one of those firms which specialises in “do gooder” causes, ambulance chasing and group litigation. Wouldn’t touch them with a barge pole.

Their conduct when they represented 9 Iraqis suing the UK government gave an insight into their moral compass. Or lack of it
The judge had a few choice words for them.

From an article in The Guardian -
But the case fell apart with the disclosure of a letter showing that some of the Iraqis were part of the Mahdi army. The judge concluded that the most serious allegations were “deliberate lies, reckless speculation and ingrained hostility”.

Keep in touch, we all need to know how you fare - we can perhaps lobby elsewhere but we MUST be certain there is nothing behind this as, I am sure you can see, challenging the Police is always a good idea but NOT if they have you 'bang to rights'.
I will add it does not seem so, in fact it seems totally without foundation. from everything we know so far.

Well they have not got in touch like they said they were going too so I will have to wait till next week.
I with sacs so I will be phoning them Monday.
The reason I haven’t taken advice before because the police who investigated what happened and my firearms officer said there’s no problem you will have them back.
I will keep you informed

I presume you have conveyed that information to SACS ?
It seems like someone has made a decision after the initial decision not to remove and went with the typical Police risk aversion, even though there remains no risk. Only the Police could do this and its still wrong.

You have no clue what you are talking about. How do you know what any risk is?

Don’t be absurd. You were a long-serving policeman. Is there any realistic probability (i.e. a risk) that a staff member, who makes an administrative error in the following two categories - failing to explain the police rationale for revoking a certificate, or incorrectly revoking a certificate, would be formally disciplined and have any sanction applied to them? No. Is there any likelihood that the Police force involved would be sanctioned? No.

Maybe consider winding it in a little?

Very best of luck with SACS and your case! I hope it goes the way you want it to :thumb:

There is overlap with another live thread on this site at the moment so just for completeness I have attached a copy of the acknowledgement I have just recived from D&C Police in response to my FoI request this morning.
“Dear requester,
We acknowledge receipt of your Freedom of Information Request received 15/02/2022:
1. the start to finish process for initiating, deciding and enacting the revocation of a Firearms Certificate;

2. the determining factors for involving armed police in any revocation;

3. in the last five calendar years the number of occasions where revocation of a Firearms Certificate has been sought, broken down into those instances where revocation was not implemented and those which resulted in revocation; and

4. the number of FAC revocations which have been appealed against and that appeal upheld including timeframes.

Your request will be considered in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000. You should expect to be sent a response within the statutory limit of 20 working days, subject to the provisions of the Act.
Should you have any further enquiries concerning this matter, please contact me quoting my reference number as above.
Yours faithfully.”

Perhaps all other members should do something similar - even if it is a “cut and paste”.
Let us see…….
