Looking for info on who provides the applicable training and then certification to officially measure deer heads within the UK at present.

I see mention of both BDS and CIC but can't seem to find any info on a pathway to train or become certified.

Any help is appreciated

Having had a quick google search, please see below.

  1. Understand the Requirements: To measure trophies, you must have a solid grasp of ethical hunting practices, CIC formulas, and species-specific guidelines. A 30-day drying period for all skulls and trophies is strictly required before evaluation.
  2. Apply for Training: You must formally register and apply through the official CIC Trophy Evaluation Database.
  3. Attend Training Courses: You will complete an intensive training course led by CIC experts, which generally includes classroom theory and hands-on measuring of various species (e.g., Roe, Red, or Fallow deer).
  4. Get Certified: Once you pass the rigorous training and evaluation, you become an officially recognized CIC Certified Measurer.
In the UK, training and assessments are overseen by the CIC United Kingdom Trophy Evaluation Board (UKTEB).
For further details on local courses and the official guidelines for applicants, contact the CIC UKTEB or reach out directly via the CIC UKTEB Contact Page.
