Head torch recommendations

I have just purchased a Nitecore NU25. I went into a barn and turned it on and then did a comparison between the one I'm currently using. The Nitecore couldn't hold a candle to it! and it's going back.

Call me a Luddite, but this works for me.....
I was about to suggest something similar.
That's the most annoying thing with many head torches, having to play a tune on the on/off button to just turn the thing on or off. Annoying.

In all honesty, my head torch is a 9.99 jobbie of Flea bay, it's been going like a Swiss watch for the last 8 years, it takes a couple of 18650 batteries.
I've used Fenix for the last 10 years. I had an HL60 which I temporarily misplaced and bought an HL65R to replace it, then found the HL60! They're tough as hell, waterproof, comfortable to wear, use 18650s and the R version can charge via micro USB. Not the cheapest but I'm pretty happy that they are unlikely to let me down.

Agreed; their 65 is arguably the best head torch on the market.
Great output, versatility and simplicity of operation, plus the run times are excellent. The “T” version with the wider headband is perfect, though the top strap can just be removed from the regular model as well.
Skilhunt H04RC. Takes 18650, and it's probably the smallest 18650 I have (and I've a thing for torches and quite a collection). It's available with a high CRI emitter so you can actually differentiate between a blood trail or just autumn leaves. Without high CRI, everything is just flat and washed out which is something you won't really know about until you get your first high CRI light.
Skilhunt headband is really good, and you also have the option to just pocket clip it and wear it like a general right angled light.

I’ve had a LEDLenser since 2019, brilliant torch and just sent it back for mainly a cosmetic issue, turned around in a few days and their customer service is on par with Swarovski.

I also have the petzl tikka but mine is the rgb model and can cycle through white,red,green and blue , not bad for around 40 quid

I have the Nao+ version and, while I agree it’s a quality piece of gear, the simpler and lighter Fenix HM65R gives significantly better runtimes at equivalent settings and almost double the maximum output in a smaller cable-free package with more-direct control, so I use it far more often.
Some people like the extra functions, but I find the auto-dimming distracting and the Bluetooth stuff unnecessary, so they don’t mean much to me. Considering that the HM65R is also less expensive, I’d easily recommend it over the Nao+. Not that the Petzl is bad or anything, it’s just that the Fenix is pretty much perfect.
No idea on your model of headtorch, but if you want to raise the surround and make the switch more recessed then I'd recommend something called Sugru. It's like bluetac but dries into a hard rubber. Mould it round the switch and let it cure for 24hrs
