Heated gilets...?

I bought the shooterking one last winter, not used it yet this season as until recently too warm. I like it because if I’m stalking to a highseat I can dress; base layer, shirt, heated gillet and then coat… it means I don’t have to Fanny about carrying extra layers and I don’t sweat pints being too hot before I’ve got to the highseat and then shiver like a fool as the sweat times to ice…. I get up the seat and after ten minutes turn it to medium and I’m toasty

I treated myself to the Deerhunter one, I find it fantastic as I usually stalk through the woods then sit in a high seat, leave the heat off while walking then switch on once up the seat and cooling down, saves the temptation to move about when you get too cold, wouldn’t be without it now, getting older and feeling the cold more

I have one on order now - hopefully delivered today / tomorrow 🤞

It arrived and fits, weights little and looks to be well made and works 😊 few observations having now played with three vests, I prefer the switch at the top of the vest as easier to get access too, not such a problem for the expensive vests with bluetooth.

However for £15 so far very pleased except that the wife also likes it when we walk the dog 😂 so may need to buy another.

I bought the Swedteam heated waistcoat a couple of years ago. I only wear it when it's below zero. Great bit of kit . I wore it on Sundays hunt when it was -6c . I had it on the lowest setting and I kept comfortable warm. The good thing about the heated waistcoat is you avoid the bulkyness of too many winter cloths. For the first time on Sunday I used battery heated gloves as well. What a revelation, again set on the lowest setting I had warm and comfortable hand and even my exposed trigger finger stayed warm.

Got heated socks at the start of last winter, they have been brilliant, no more cold feet when standing waiting to shoot at the clay ground or sitting for hours in the pigeon hide, hence why I decided to try a heated top.

leggings, gloves then what a portable generator strapped on me back 😂

That's the problem. You end up with a heap of batteries and chargers. I now have a dedicated box just for hunting radios and all the hunting related batteries and chargers

Get one of these if sitting-up for foxes, deer or even rats in Winter:
My only tip is become proficient in deploying the side opening zip if you wish to get off a knee supported shot in a hurry. No doubt proficiency in this will be supported by BASC or BDS training and ultimately Home Office proscribed testing.

Couple years on from this thread- those with el cheapo still happy? Been shooting from silage stack for few weeks now & getting chilly sitting in one spot all night. But no way am I spending over £50 on one.

The one I picked up from Amazon has been excellent, it's has been used extensively whilst motorcycling and shooting. Would definitely recommend it

@BenBhoy We have had about 4 from Ebay and Amazon of the el cheapo flavour - choose wisely one with the max number of heating pads to ensure you are as warm as you wish to be - there is a surprising variance as to the coverage!

Do also make sure its big enough - look closely at the sizing - I bet you'll be a 4XL or bigger!

If you do, you should be ok - 3 of our 4 are working well still since COVID :thumb:

I ended up pay £19.99 from amazon and have been very pleased with it, in fact so much so I purchased a spare but it is still in the box as the first one is still working, they are shown as currently unavailable.
I tried several from ebay before ending up with this type, first issue with ebay was the sizing they came up small, then when I finally got the size correct, I found it would turn itself off after a period of indeterminate, random time.

This type has not had such problems, is very nice quality and adjustable for size.

edit to add all, the ebay’s ones went back, this also has no heating element where you would shoulder the firearms which i though useful as may otherwise increase the opportunity for the heating element to fail.

Same here was sceptical myself but ended up getting one off Amazon gotta say it’s been great since I’ve had itt
even not turned on it’s pretty warm on its own so no complaints from me well worth the cash in my book I’m looking at the socks to now

One I had lasted 4 or 5 years, then died. Cost me £20. Replaced it, and the new one is going strongly the last 2 years.
I wear mine day in and day out. Hunting, motorbike, going to the pub. I live in mine.
As said,
Check sizes, don’t look at s,m,l etc, read the dimensions.
Look at the number of panels. And some even come with a heated collar. Nice.
Don’t bother with sleeves.
Buy 2 10,000 mAmp hrs. Less bulky

All the above is only imho of course.
