What is the difference?

How far up my leg, do I have to roll my trouser to advance a level?

I believe Distinguished is a mark of respect for that persons contributions to our sector / individual members .................. bit like an OBE / MBE :norty:, descending in order the others seem to be how active on here

Would you not have to declare these days?
Well this may ruffle some feathers...

When I was serving I was indeed "invited" to join the club. I was invited on two distinct occasions; the second time by a colleague who had more antlers that an Imperial Red.

In a previous life I had been an Engineer. I get that in a "club" such as the one we all know we are talking about, it could be useful to form alliances with those of similar trades/professions. I help you, you help me, sort of thing.

As a Police Officer the only "commodity" I had was integrity and that was not for trade. No offence to those who are members.

Also, whilst serving I managed to break my back and neck and so was "out of commission" for a wee while. My first social event - post recovery was an invite to a "Ladies Night". I went and was grateful to do so. During the evening I sat in a very ornate chair - the uproar this caused was ludicrous. Apparently it was some sort of "Throne".

Yeah. Not for me thanks.

I think you will find in such a "club" the rules are that an individual is not asked to join its up to the individual to ask to join however that doesn't mean that a friend of said individual can't suggest to a friend that they inquire about becoming a member

Hence the famous quote by Boycie to Del Boy in only fools and horses " have you ever seen the bottom of a rabbits cage?"
Well played sir😂

Many years ago, A pub used to be situate tight up against the city walls next the Eastgate, A chair always vacant on one side of the bar parlour, non of the regulars would sit in it, something to do with anyone who did sit there had to buy a round for everyone present.

My wife went to a ladies night, the wife of an acquaintance was expecting and she asked my wife to accompany her husband. Apparently a plush do with the women waited on. Needless to say, my wife was not expecting when she returned, not that sort of a do ;)
