High seat signage

The first batch of the highseat signs will be sent today.

I have also taken orders from people that want far larger custom signs. One example as attached.

Another one was

RIFLES IN USE

This is going to be 3 strips of 250mm high by 800mm long. So in total the sign will be 750mm high by 800mm long.

I would think that type of warning (Rifles in Use) is going to cause far more harm than good. It doesn't take much imagination to see how those who disagree with what we do will take that sign as a challenge, call the police and tell them they've seen "some armed man" walking around the woods.

Hi Willie_gunn,

This was a specific request from another member not what I have designed myself. I would tend to agree with you, but if someone requests specific wording then I will produce what is requested. I also like the sign bobjs uses as per the attachment below. I am sure this would cause more concern? LOL

So what if they do? As long as you aren't doing anything wrong, it is them that were warned and them that will be cautioned for wasting police time. I've had armed response units out after me twice now (with associated police helicopter!) and never had a problem. Surely you are more likely to be reported if people are not aware that you could be in there? It works both ways!

I am also doing some carcass inspection tags. These will just be black on a white tag. They are like a very heavy duty luggage label with a hole to put a cable tie through to connect to the carcass.

I can print your own trained hunter number and name on the tag along with the rest of the pre fixed info, with a space to hand write the variable information.

If someone wants to advertise that they are out stalking, that's entirely up to them. I just prefer to avoid needlessly drawing attention to it.

I don't see the reason behind the words "Rifles in Use" other than to scare people. It doesn't absolve you of any legal liability, so why not just leave it at "Deer Management in Progress"?

Personally I'd rather spend my time stalking than explaining to my local police force that some idiot is wasting their time based on their adverse reaction to a sign that I had posted.

How much are the game tags?

It will largely depend on quantity.

If you order 100 I can do them for £15 including P&P. The price will come down if you order more.

Many of the places I shoot are covered in footpaths with full public access at all times. Whilst it is entirely legal to shoot on a footpath, you should not do so if there is a chance of either frightening or endangering footpath users. A shot from a highseat with a clear and safe backstop should be enough to prevent any danger, but there will always be associated noise which could frighten unsuspecting persons. A sign informing persons using footpaths that they may hear rifle shots should go some way to lessen any such fear? I even cull deer in several nature reserves with full public access and it seems to work well. Many of them stop and have a chat with me out of interest having read the signs. Apart from one fella who walked past me and then clapped his hands through the woods to attempt to scare all the deer away, most are very supportive of what I do and obviously feel safe enough to walk around the woods whilst I am in there.

Ive specified signs like this because I stalk an area were the general public have no access but despite the gate ect continue to trespass its not very nice to be stalking then have someone just appear out of the trees and when you speak to them they give you aloud of **** about no signs ect and they are trespassing not advertising just warning some people don't have trespass problems we do

There's many that found that the best way to keep people away from something or off land was a sign, nearby, saying "DANGER ADDERS" with a picture of said viper....

It discourages both casuals AND the more persistent type of dog walker...

another good one that I know a farmer uses and says it works a treat is warning police dog training area keep out
