Hilux daytime running lights

There is no manual switch off on the mk8 light stalk that's fitted to mine, just auto, sidelights and headlight position, on the mk7 you had an off position.

No luck on that one, even with a friend who is a Toyota technician! The guy went through all the parameters he could access and failed, managed to turn the seatbelt beeps off though, should of stayed with the old technology.

Ubique: mine is the Active so has manual, i will try taking the reley out asvi didvon my D max, see what happens

Legal requirement for all vehicles to be fitted with DRL lights designed/manufactured after a certain year.
Retailers won't be willing to do it as it's more than their franchise would be worth.

As said in a previous post. Don't mess with the CAN bus. Would you tap into the fibre broadband outside your house and expect it still to work. Nope.
We always have people asking to turn DRL off, you used to be able to do it pre 2011 as a configurable option in the car configuration file but not anymore.
Most headlamp modules are part of each headlamp either CAN bus or LIN bus controlled.

Problem solved, took fuse out, as its only the Active model there are no front fog lights to worry about, thanks again for all replies, cheers

Just thinking about this now, for a friends one, the simplest method would to be fit a suitably sized automotive relay and cut power off to all the lights by having the relay inline with the fuse.
