Evening, keen to use 100 pcs of 178 grn Hornady ELD X in my 300 win mag. Have plenty of N160 as use for my 270 and got the 300 win mag load data off the Vith site.

Reading older posts on here N160 doesnt seem to work well? Keen to not waste components so any input welcome.

Have chrono and I reload for other calibres. I have tried some RL22 with these ELD X and not getting decent groups. Maybe my rifle doesnt like this bullet. Thanks.

ELD X 178grn .308 loaded with 42grn of N150 . I have found this very accurate in my Mouser M12 .308. 1in11 twist.
Good in my rifle, I did load higher powder weights, those loads were faster, not so nice to fire and not so accurate.

Don’t think I’ve ever loaded N160 in .300WM, too fast and not ideal with 180 bullets. I’d go with N165 or alternatively shoot a lighter bullet. I’m now shooting Yew Tree 148’s with Elcho 17 (RS60) fast and very accurate.

also for me, 71,6 grains of N160 in my weatherby 300 Winnie and 65 cm barrell with Accubond 180
