Hornady superperformance

Has anyone tried and chronographed the Hornady Superperformace loads in .308, the ads say up to 200fps more with them over standard loads with no increase in recoil. A friend uses them in a .243 and swears by them but he hasn't actually done any scientific evaluation with a chrono.

They are good, my .22-250 is putting them out at just over 3,700fps (50gn) for a box figure of 4,000fps.

Afraid that I never put the old ones over the chrono so not sure what the uplift is.

This is out of a Tikka M595 standard barrel, accurate as you would ever need

Fantastic foxing round in the .243 & .222

Really good in the .308.

Never put a chrono on any of em, but they do the job

The 140's in my and a friends 7mm08 were over pressure. His is a Kimber and mine a Rem 700 and we both had very stiff bolt openings and flattened primers. Didn't buy any more after that. There was definitely a more pronounced recoil. They chronographed about 80 fps faster than the non Superperformance Hornadays. Fast but less accurate. I have heard the same from others too.

Yes, I have done recently, with the 150g Superformance SSTs.

My 20 inch Sako .308 makes 2898fps for 2797ft/lbs at the muzzle.

Groups well under an inch as well, so it is a favourite. Shame they don't do them in 150g with a different head. SST isn't always ideal!

I only use the .308 SST in the Mauser and works really well. Sub 1" grouping. Never put it on the Chrono, but be interested to see what the actual fps are.

have used them in 204 box says 4200fps crono says 3800fps thats with a 32g head i can get 3800fps with my home loads with 39g blitzkings

They wouldn't group in my rifle so gave them away. That's rifles for you. The guy I gave them to swears by them.

My 243 is what I let a mate/guest use when they come along with me, mostly roe but it has been used on reds too. Meat damage can be excessive if the range is too close but, adjust your shot placement for distance and its fine. They're very good for neck shots, like I say, they're very accurate in my rifle. Sako 85 btw.

Thanks for the replies guys, seems to be a mixed bag of opinion so it seems I will need to try them and see how they get on with my rifle.
