How do you move your deer?

Roe sack for me also, if red then a drag (rope) out to the nearest pick up point.

Looks like this old fellow has the knack

Rgds, Buck.

ill have to give that a go, looks a good idea to me, we generally carry them over our shoulders. they look easier to pick up as per the film.

Only ever shot roe and munty, so carrying them out is not an issue. I can just see the look on Joe Public's face if you walk out with a deer on your back like that old fella. Tho I bet you spending a day with those two would be a laugh and an education.

Take a muscular friend with you, let him carry your Deer and you carry the gear !

We use rescue sleds for everything here.I'm sure they'd be available there, they're relatively inexpensive and store away easily. I've been using the same one for over 20 yrs, its made out of sheet metal and wieghs about 45 lbs.
Just to be clear, I'm talking about the sleds that search and rescue teams use to take out injured skiers, hikers, etc. Mine is, like I said, made of sheet metal and is large enough for a moose carcass. 4 men can pull a moose without to much trouble, with a quad or trike its no work at all.
The newer polymer sleds are smaller and lighter and would , I think be perfect for all UK deer.( by the way, its important to be behind the sled when going downhill....... dont ask lol )

Try one out, you might be surprised AB

some would argue I move them by being too noisy, being seen, not looking where I am walking, not paying attention the wind, coughing, whacking branches with the barrel, smacking the ferrule of my walking stick off the only stone for miles.........

roe - carry like a shoulder bag (I have a short length of seat belt with loops on either end. loops on hocks, belt on shoulder

hinds - depending on size - same method but slung across the chest - bigger ones - drag

stags - drag and/or quad (i have a double loop of seat belt material with 8ft of thin rope, loop round antler, under chin and a half bowling round the nose, makes the nose point where you want to go. sling really helps as you can lean and use your legs.)

Iam not rich enough to own a quad so I made a drag rope from 20mm para cord I use it for red's or large fallow.
It has a swivel on it to spot the animal spinning me off the hill. I use a niggeloh drag hook for smaller deer its light and handy
and was not expensive.

Regards.
