HOW MUCH!

Or the many hundreds of pounds people spend on leases etc, when they could just spend a few quid on placing an advert in the Farmers' Weekly!

Joking apart, I think I've probably spent more on ammunition than on anything else!
To be honest I thought that the ad wasn’t a bad idea !

For cheap shotguns, look out your local sporting goods auction.
You will be shocked at how rediculously cheap some are, if you don't want anything posh or collectible.

Not just me saying so, loads of my shooting acquaintances have commented on how even the landowners in the darker corners of the countryside are wising up, when insurances get mentioned.
Insurance is easy ngo ca even the mighty basc offer insurance if anything happens while stalking , the problem is “ deer managers “ turning up with thier “ qualifications “ spouting about best practice to landowners that make them jittery , I’m still doing fine

Not all about deer, night shooting can raise a few eyebrows, anyhow, derailing a bit here.

Shot hundreds of deer, and not one asked to see my paperwork.

I even shot a few with an old cheap Parker Hale, and none of them complained at the indignity either.

It's only people that make shooting deer about money. Anything can be done on the cheap if you try hard enough.

Correct !

Same cheap Parker-Hale mentioned in post #2, methinks ;) :tiphat:

I now have 2 cheap Parker-Hales, which I suppose makes me a bit extravagant.

Not at all , you can never have too many PH's . I'd say how many I have , but some here might doubt my sanity lol . I realize it's a totally different market over here , but the prices in the UK are a bit shocking . One of my oldest friends , and also one of the most successful hunters I know , has been using the same old Husqvarna 8X57 for about 30 years . You can still buy a good Husky around here for about $ 350 Canadian , a decent scope will set you back about $ 400 CDN . I'm the last guy to tell anyone what to buy , I'm one of the worst offenders when it comes to buying rifles , but you really don't need to spend stupid amounts of cash to get into hunting , as most of you have already pointed out . Plus I always enjoy bringing back an old war horse , I have a pre-war Husky Model 46 in 9.3X57 that shoots far better than I can . I picked it up for 250 bones , love it .

Unlike some, I tend to move in other circles, not just on here fella!, most of the time I can be posting off the roof of the truck alongside a rifle, my pitch on the night shooting slant was, lets say you have two guys who want to shoot stuff on the Lamp / Thermal etc, be it whatever live quarry, who you gonna consider first?, someone who hasn’t made any effort whatsoever to bring themselves into line with the modern world, or some fly by night who thinks his age & greasy waxy cap give him an edge?

I tend to be out with a rifle a lot too mate 3-4 days a week , I’d consider someone by asking about them and reputation bits of paper are just that , meaningless

So, It’s patently obvious to me, and anyone else reading your replies / posts, that you are living in the past, how often do you hear the question, have you got your ticket mate ? For whatever machine or operation you intend to carry out , on whatever new site or ground you have arrived at .... maybe you have just that little slice of old ground that has never needed to comply?...... now that is what can be called a proper derail I think, maybe you should start a separate thread on why you think no one needs to get certificated? Ever tried to get away with a chainsaw on FC ground without a cert?, I could go on & on & on ......

15000 acres compromising two estates and several smaller bits of little shoots and farms isn’t really a little slice .... but I wish you the very best with your DMG
