Yes Fallow Stalker, sorry your thread was high jacked somewhat, this was in part my fault, I will buy you two pints this friday on the jolly boys night out instead of one
As for Fandango, I am glad he is freezing his nuts off I have no doubt that copious amounts of whisky have been consumed to warm him up
I have no problem with my snow suit being covered in Claret, providing he cleans it up before I get it back As we are still planning the trip to return this autumn for a Forest Rheindeer and Elk it might be worth baring in mind that I now have a score to settle with the Stig
I have a green stocked HOWA .243 varmint on order, tis a B'day pressie from my wife and is due in about mid Feb (I only wanted a new lamp so the rifle is a definate bonus ) I am currently using my .308 BROWNING A-bolt as an all rounder (deer/fox), but I am itching to get my hands on the HOWA
And mostly Jap glass too
These days Japanese means good high quality engineering/build quality without the designer label price tag
this is my A-bolt II
3 shots @ 100yds using cheap factory Winchester super X
No complaints from me, I paid just under £400 for the BROWNING when it was new complete with rings and bases, the only thing I have done, is to stiffen the fore-end with epoxy and it seems to do what it says on the tin
I was informed of two companies that were providing this conversion, but unfortunately one has not as yet brought it’s conversion to the market. The other company is Roedale Rifles, I think I am right in saying he uses the Badger Ordinance Remington 700 magazine kit for the base of this conversion. He had one on show at last years IWA.
Finally managed to get out and try my new howa 22-250 in the field.
I was messing around shaping a prototype stock for it in the last week and temporarilly put on and bedded a plastic stock until my fibre glas stock is done.
Rifle was roughly zeroed and needed just 3 shots to be on.
Shot a rabbit at 146m and I'm not joking smoke came out of the poor bugger. Next was a fox at about 100m. He had a bit of a limp. (before)
I am really happy with the rifle, action is really nice and pics up rounds nicely. I prefer the drop plate anyway after a couple years using a magazine rifle. The standard stock is way too low in the comb if the scope is mounted quite high. I purchased this howa through roedale precision in
germany. Roedale offer to check headspace, re-crown and do up the trigger.
