I didn't take my own advice

Right. Cops just away. This new guy was spot on. They visited his home and asked why he was at my address , just to **** me off , he was never gonna do anything. was the reply. Cops said they read him the riot act, and if he is spotted here again hee will be charged with breach of the peace

The cop was confused as to why the original officer didn't contact the landowner regarding permission to be on the ground. And he was going to chase it up

Happy days pal, hopefully that will be the last of it. Just be watchfull for other people/cars that may be affiliated with him. I understand that you won't know this but a motto i have been taught is

Presence of the Abnormal
Absence of the Normal.

Excellent result, well done for your persistence. I hope that things get back to normal and you keep that ground and remain safe. I would, as has been mentioned, keep your wits about you though. The bozos may well now not seek to intimidate or be threatening towards you directly because of the police action, but being lowlife numb nuts, it's entirely possible that some indiscriminate damage could occur to your property. Bear this in mind and seek to minimise the risk. Think about where you park, what you leave out at home and such things to minimise opportunities. With a bit of time, because they usually have the memory capacity of a plankton, things will settle down and they'll find something else to occupy themselves.

Unfortunately you are in a common predicament. Unless these guys actually lay hands on you, the cops will do very little.

The cops are really only there to mop up after the event, not stop the "event" from happening....

And thats half the trouble these days, smothered by forms and paperwork, most times understaffed by experienced officers, the police have become reactive instead of proactive, mopping up is of little use....

Regards WB

If it was happening to me and my family I'd pop out and get the biggest nastiest ******* of a dog you've ever seen and make sure those ******s see him with you.

Glad it's sorted! These sort of people really boil my p*ss! They think they are above the law but are always the first to hide behind it.

If you have any further trouble I would take the wife and kids (assuming you haven't hidden what's going on to prevent worry) to the police station and set up camp in the reception. Tell them this is the only place you feel you'll be safe. This will probably result in some swift action on their part.

Should have just followed him home to make him fully aware that if out happens to you or your property you know were to find him also !

+1 , I`d park in front of his house and overtly photograph his house and vehicle and even him , he does not know you or what you do so it may worry him enough to leave it alone, you would not be breaking the law , just gathering intel to pass to the police who dont seem to be doing the job themselves.

There actions do make me wonder if one of them has been charged with something due to your reporting them , lets hope so .

Best bet is to just avoid confrontation full stop. If you see some one while out shooting..innocent or not..just go the other way and call the landowner and let him deal with it if needs be

Its a double edged sword in my veiw, if you ignore/hide/cower from threats theres a very good chance they will get worse , on the other hand if you can put pride to one side walking away can also save any further incidents , one thing for sure is its always best to get the first call into the Rozzers, I lived in Spain for some years and it seems that over there the last person to call the Police after an incident is the guilty one !!

It would be very tempting to get some hard hitting, pipe weilding mates to pay them a visit. not that I condone that sort of behavior.

Not a good suggestion, unless you want the Police knocking on your door and firearms seized. Keep clear of the idiots and on the right side of the law.
Not even funny as a joke.

Have to agree these people do not think as we do, they believe they are above the law and to do time just adds Kudos amongst their peers, also you will not stop them as they have numerous "cousins" in many counties only too happy to redeem favours for each other.

Stay well clear because you will not win, local farmers have had barns full of hay/straw set alight, horses have had their throats cut and dogs stolen it will not stop and the police are really not that keen to take them on unless it the tactical boys.

If they goad you and you take the bait your Certificate will be the first to go because the police see you as a softer touch and will be seen to remove a potential "tragedy" in case you shoot a pikey or two.

I sincerely hope this ends well for you and your family, its not until you have suffered at the hands of these people will the full implications be realised.

All the best WB

I have no love for these sort of people who are indeed a law unto themselves. But you've shown them that you won't roll over and take it off them by your persistence with the police. Now is the time to keep a low profile and look to your own security. Being warned off by the police is a habitual occurrence for them most likely and they'll likely heed the warning as there's not really much to be gained by them agitating you or going where they were trespassing.

Always good fun for you to have a mental picture of you blasting off a shotgun at their backsides as they run down the lane shouting "Yarooo!" But better leave such thoughts in the mind. :-D

Please have a read of this:

Gun injury statistics

Air rifle injuries are reducing
ALL injuries involving ALL firearms form less than 0.01/100,000 population (0.00001%). Compare this to the 45-58 killed or seriously injured people per 100000 using cars.
Do we really need any more legislation 'in the interest of safety' for airgun/rifle ownership or is it just the latest political fad to improve our utterly dangerous lives?
+1 to this and why bob the builder? i was using air rifles before i was a builder and ive been doing that for 28 years

Some people stand up to poachers/pikeys , I knew a keeper up in Staffordshire who shot any dog not on a lead on sight , quite happy to put a .222 through any poachers parked car tyre and really enjoyed punching the living daylights out of them , he had family , lived on the estate, no repercussions , also never had any further poaching problems after a year or so as the word soon got around he would stand his ground, in days gone by a good keeper had to be fairly handy with his fists , has it really changed that much?

Nope,I learned very quickly that I had to be able to stand my ground with some of the scum that we had dealings with( and it was metal thieves, drug addicts etc as well as poachers) BUT at times it got me into trouble with the law.I was fortunate enough to have a boss that wanted the estate run hard and that was prepared to provide legal support when the **** hit the fan.
In this case and many others the OP would certainly have ended up in a world of trouble if he had done anything that the baddies could have twisted and thrown back at him via the police.
I hate having to back down to people like this but 99 times out of 100 it is better to use(and keep) you head and not your fists

Well let's just hope that the law served the public in the correct manner. Unwanted people shooting on land that they're not suppose to be on have ruined many a good nights shooting and I'm sure will continue to do so.
If Air weapons were to be licensed, would there have to be an amnesty for all air weapons currently in the country? How successful would this be? Not very in my opinion.
