Can anyone identify this bird found dead and half eaten on my lawn in Leics?
Nearest I can get is a lapwing, almost amusing if you agree? It's wingspan is approx 18" I haven't a clue what dropped it.

Do you fly it at prey wanderer ?
Yes, into her 3rd hunting season now.
She pretty much catches something at every trip out if there is quarry about.
Rabbits, Pheasant, partridge, woodcock are mostly in her catch returns.
We usually go out several times a week.
If she has a catch i generally let her have a feed which could range from a full crop (mrs creosote..) or just a small feed if we are to hunt the next day.
Good fun.

We used to have some great times out with the Hawks, I never owned one but a few pals had everything from Harris Hawks, Red Tails and a Golden Eagle, We had to travel a lot to fly the Eagle as it needed vast open spaces to hunt, The Harris and Red tail used to love the Grey Squirrels and rabbits.

So far she hasnt caught a squirrel which is perhaps a blessing as they can give nasty bites.
She has however in her career caught 2 stoats!

Do you go alone or is there a few of you ?
Some of the lads and me were due to go and have a go flying hawks and golden eagles but the poor chap that was the host sadly passed away

I hunt alone.
The hawk is bonded well to me but doesnt like it if other people are out and about.
She doesnt like dogs and i haven't found the need for a dog as she has "eyes like a hawk".
I would certainly not be taking her to a falconry hunting meet with other birds of prey.
Perhaps she is Autistic! (Sorry Neuro divergent)
We hunt well as a team of two.
Of course, i am a member of her team..
