Well guys it's been a bit of a difficult week. I went into hospital on Tuesday for some heart surgery and have been resting and sleeping an awful lot since as things didn't go exactly to plan.
The procedure was supposed to be an angiogram with a few extra things involved which gave things a higher risk factor. It ended up as a bit of a "cock up" to be honest!
They decided to go into my system with the wire through the right arm even though they had trouble finding a pulse in the right arm due to my artery narrowing/collapsing during a previous angiogram a few years ago (Which i told them about). They spent quite a while trying to force the wire up my right arm (About 20 minutes in all which was quite painful) before they decided that it simply wasn't going to happen and would use the left arm instead. Things were going OK (If you overlook the fact that during this my heart was started miss a few beats now (A little worrying when you're lying there listening to it on the monitor) They then injected some "drugs" into me via the cannula to perform "pressure test". Now if any of you have had this before you will know that it is not a pleasant feeling, but it had to be done. They found the two arteries around my heart that were very narrow and were restricting the blood flow through and around my heart and put two stents in them, (I now have 5 stents in total) which seem to have done the job.
What they didn't tell me was that while this was happening for some reason all the blood vessels under my eye were starting to burst - I didn't know anything about this until I got back on the ward and the nurse asked me who I had been fighting with - I asked her what she was on about and she told me to look in a mirror - When I did I looked like I had just been in the ring for a few rounds with Tyson Fury, my right eye is still quite a mess now, but if anyone asks me I will just tell them that my snoring was keeping SWMBO awake so she rolled over and punched me.
Anyway all in all I feel a little better now and they have adjusted the amount of prescribed drugs which I have to take daily so we will have to see how things go from now on. I am feeling considerably better but get very tired so I need a little time to build up my energy to will be taking things a little easy for a while even though I am going to try a game of bowls this afternoon.

Holy hell, that sounds like you've been through the mill! Hope it makes a world of difference in general though, and that you're soon firing on all cylinders again. best of luck!

Thanks for your well wishes. I should have added that according to the cardio nurse the whole procedure should have taken around 40 - 45 minutes in the operating theatre but I was in theatre for just over two hours. They were originally going to put a couple of "probes" into my heart (Which is where the biggest risk came from) with the possibilities of either a bleed out or heart failure that would require emergence open heart surgery there and then but they decide that part of the "procedure" wasn't necessary (Much to my relief).
As I said the worst bit for me was listening to the monitor by the side of my head and hearing my heart missing beats now and then while they were working on me and the fact that I am severely bruised on both arms and around my face.
Having said that I always have had and still do have the highest regard and admiration for the nurses and staff who did everything they could to make sure that I was comfortable and well cared for. The nurses in particular were pure angels and I raise my hat to them all! :tiphat:
And I'm still around for my 71st birthday on Monday!

If I could get down your way I would love nothing better than to go out for a "Deer Hunt" with you John but at the moment (Unless I win the National Lottery) it is just a little too much travelling for me mate! ;)

Crikey! All that torture makes the earlier thread about cameras and backsides sound positively appealing! (OK - I lied).
I hope you notice a big difference and wish you a speedy recovery.

I agree. I hope that my feelings were made quite clear about the hospital staff in #5!

Wishing you the very best and at the risk of embarrassing you, what a top bloke you clearly are for dealing with such a less than well dealt hand.

Glad to hear you have come through this tough procedure. May you rest up and have a full measure of health and vigour thereafter.
