IN THEORY; Ill Be Rich In No Time

I seem to have reached a point where I should be happy, but am left feeling a little bit empty and deflated.
My gun cupboard is full; to the point where the FEO said, at my last variation, "it's one out, one in from now on".
I use 3 calibres for stalking, .243, 308, and .303. I have brass and hunting bullets aplenty for each one, even at my current rate of outings, I have enough bullets to cover my stalking for several years.
I have enough powder for everything, and accurate loads worked out for each cartridge.
I'm happy with my main pair of binos, and I have a smaller pair to keep in the car.
I've finally arrived at the point where the scopes and mounts I have on each rifle seem well suited, and they do everything I want them to do.
The clothing I have is fit for purpose, and I've tried enough "Gucci" stuff to know not to fall for the advertising.
So. What do I do now? I don't seem to have anything left to spend money on. ;)

That's easy.
Tell your wife exactly how much you have spent getting to your utopia and then watch her take it all as she drags you through the divorce court for not having taken her to St Lucia at least once.
Then you can start again!!

Yup, shoot more deer. And long range gong bashing is a sure way to chew through mountains of powder, bullets etc.

Simple, decide to upgrade everything to a Balsa

That will solve any potential wealth issues

It is a fair question. What next? I achieved my life's ambition (not shooting related) when I was in my early twenties, yet can't be content with simply being content. We all need fresh challenges from time to time.
Read John MacNab.

"go and get a job instead of claiming benefits and spending all day telling porkies on stalking forums"

If that was directed at Moi, I beg to differ, I have already exceeded my pensions credits by at least 18 years , ... & I reckon through my working life, I have supported many like my current neighbours with their "Mobility cars", I wonder if they would still want one of those blue three wheeler thingys on the drive next to their privately owned motor?.

no not you, the op. and it is meant as a joke.

Aha. Mental order is restored. I need an upright chiller/fridge; and maybe a 2nd shed to put it in. At last something to stop money burning a hole in my pocket.
Shot two muntjac on Monday, one went to the game dealer, but the other I kept for the freezer.
In order to maintain any semblance of harmony (and keep certain parts of my anatomy in tact, not least my hearing!) I can only "do" a deer when the wife's either in bed or out of the house. So, I was in the situation of having a fresh carcass in a hot car for most of the day. Cue, 2 bags of ice cubes from the freezer isle of Mr Cohen's famous super-market; one stuffed inside the rib cage, the other just laid on top. I managed to park the car so that its back end was in the shade of the house for most of the afternoon, and that was as close as I could get to "refrigeration".
All worked well though, and the carcass was still fresh as a daisy when I sprang into action just after her bed time in order to get the beast skinned and butchered/minced before I could get to bed myself.

same boat as you finnbear good on ya, ive worked enough years in my life and paid my taxes like you, and never scrounged of the state, and now im bloody well gonna enjoy what ive got left ,nobody gave me anything, i had to go out an earn my crust, now i can afford the whole loaf.

I retired in March due to circumstances meaning I'll be OK financially without having to work.
BUT that doesn't make life cheaper, as I've just done DSC1, bought an insanely expensive, 243, have two more rifles on order, want a new roof & solar panels on the house, a garage/workshop built, an outhouse converted into a larder, need to book DSC2, want a lease off Forest Enterprise, am off to the Eastern Cape next year...

...oh & a new truck in 2020.

Not too sure about being able to afford food though.:D
