Is it just me ?

Relatively new to stalking but have several pieces of ground with Muntjac, Roe, and occasional Fallow.

Do my own carcasses and butchery, give plenty away to those who appreciate it.

Whenever I take a buck , regardless of head quality , I feel that I have to do the head out and mount it.
The downstairs loo wall is starting to fill up !

Is this some strange sort of addiction ?

Is it just me ?

Yes its a lot of work and stink. I only prepare 2/3 interesting ones a year now. Sometimes I just saw them off to use the horn for keyrings etc.

Put lots of bronze silver MJ heads in the hedge....I shoot them as it is the meat which is of greater interest
besides you can't eat the head lol....same with wonky fallow lol

I cut off and save my antlers as they’re used for carving and jewellery up here (earrings, etc). I only mount my firsts. I use some loose antlers for decoration around the house, then give away everything else.

For bear/wolf, I rugged my first then get everything else tanned to give away as gifts. If I kept them all it would look like I’m a hoarder 😂. I also bleached my first wolf and bear skulls, and give all new ones as gifts as well.

Worse case scenario you start replacing smaller ones with bigger ones!

Also tossing medal heads? I guess im a bit too modern but bloody skulls online sell for a ton...

Hell I dropped £200 on some antlers recently!

I cannot even find a reasonable fallow buck for sale (buck with even a bit of palmation) so for now I have this little guy

Carrie Johnson take note ! 😁😁

I keep any interesting ones (such as a three-antlered fallow), any that were a particularly memorable stalk, and of course my firsts for each species.

Anything half-decent that I don't want to keep can be sold, if not head shot.
