Evening,

I've experienced this in Scotland. The reason appears to be; who do you associate with or who may have information/access to your firearms. They might know more about your housemates than you do.

I'm not saying its right but I suspect its becoming more common.

NB

It's not a new thing, just a standard Q & A on their renewal questionnaire tick box form.
I was asked it in person in 2000. If it's a remote or 'phone renewal they have no other means of finding the answers.:)

Mate had to provide details of his cleaner ffs

Another friend lost his licence as he didn’t declare a brother living with him who had a criminal record

Quite reasonable for them to be interested to know if one's brother, that famous armed blagger who did a seven-stretch for the Camberwell job back in the late eighties, is now lodging next to a cupboard full of shooters...
Reasonable? Surely, after giving her majesty pleasure for seven years, even the hardest of armed criminals would re-enter society as a reformed citizen.

Harry gave up his guns following a much shorter sentence ;)

It already ask that on the application form.
Odd they would ask you by e mail.
Had you submitted your renewal already,I guess you must have done .

There's a box on the A165 (England at least) that the FEO will have with them on the renewal and it asks for anyone who lives at the address over the age of 18 or people who are basically left alone in the house with time to go looking for the keys etc. The question could be asked bluntly or as @VSS says just in conversation and their details added that way.

Standard practice for residents of Basingrad... 😂

Did my renewal with Hants about 18 months ago & wasn't asked this, just had to confirm no change to circumstances since last renewal.
