Jimny

Love mine, more comfort than a landy defender, rarely short of room, 36 + mpg fuel, cheap to insure, tyres last well (I have Bridgestone HT duelers), warms up so quick which is great on a cold day it does everything off road that I need and ask of it. My only negitive about it is the light back end on a wet island if am going a bit quick although driven steady it isnt a problem !

I bought mine earlier this year for £450 with a years MOT and tax! Great little car for getting around the shoot. I would choose one allday everyday over a Land Rover.

I own a 1999 Yukon and love it. I have not found anywhere I can't go with it, and agree the MPG could be better. I will be sorry to have to sell it, next year, before I move to Scotland.:(

The price of fuel, the price of replacement parts, passenger capacity, and it being a LH drive are my, only, reasons for not taking it with.

Looking forward to getting a good used Landi when I get there; a diesel that will hold 10 people and my dog.:)

Q. What's the difference between a Suzuki Jimny and a sheep???
A. Its slightly less embarrassing being seen to be getting out the back of a sheep ...... Apparently!

Sorry! ... Couldn't resist it!

I guess that might be amusing to Landy owners, who are either up to their eyeballs in grease or warranty claims.

I have always found mine (on second now) very reliable and remarkably capable. It goes pretty well anywhere where someone of my low skill level would want to take it.

What they are really good for is creeping round a field very quietly and two men being able to stand on the back of a hard top and use the roof as a portable bench rest with bipod and lamp, perfect. Cheapest car to run ever off road but bad fuel economy.

Jimny fuel.
Try a couple of tank fulls of shell V power petrol. The extra mileage and performance you get, should equal out the extra cost of the petrol when compared with the cheap petrol.
PS it takes a bit of time for the fuel system on the Jimny to adjust to higher octane fuel but well worth the extra cost!

I absolutely love them but would never have one due to dreadful mpg, could never understand how something so light could be so poor on fuel
Regards
Jimmy
I had an autumatic with 20k on the clock and it did 22mpg and it ran perfectly. The road tax was £400 a year. I put a lift kit and bfg muds on it and it would go anywhere even floating over a flooded hollow in a stubble field.

I bought a Jimny 02 (Soft top) earlier this year on an 03 plate with very low mileage to confound the greedy tax man who didn't like my company car. I had our local garage go right through it out including a cam belt service. I have used it all summer and its been nothing but brilliant. Compared to my Defender and Virtara the fuel economy is amazing!

Lease on company car now sorted, I have just bought a brand new Nissan X Trail but I haven't got around to selling the Jimny yet and quite frankly its a bit of a wrench to let it go and I was thinking of hanging on to it for a couple of years to be my daughters first car. Seems a waste though.

If any one is interested please let me know. I'd like £1750 for it. Located in Zeals just off the A303.

My Jimney wouldn't start on Saturday morning, just when I wanted it to go shooting, no problem, just took my other 4x4. The immobiliser light was on so although spinning over it didn't start. Checked all the connectors etc, read through the Suzuki blogs and spotted advice that suggested jump start, battery voltage may be down. So jump leads on and sure enough it fired up. That's a first, jump starting an engine that was turning over as fast as it normally does. I guess, the electronics that scan and read the key chip are only active as the engine is turning over and a sluggish battery has a lower voltage under load
As colder weather is on its way a new battery is probably needed.

I have a couple of jimnys but this is my favourite one, It was originally a soft top but chopped the body in half and stuck a chopped down suzuki rascal pickup body on the back. It goes anywhere use it for local stalking and lamping, there not the best on fuel but what 4x4 is? Even most quad bikes are thirsty.

I'm surprised, I bought my Jimny back in may, an 06 and still on the original battery.
But with the cold mornings it had got very sluggish on the started motor, so slow it even paused before actually cranking over.
I fitted a new one before it failed to start, but never has it cranked over and refused to start. Must have just been lucky I suppose.
On checking the old battery I found it had a nominal cold voltage of 10.2 volts, but although slow to crank it always fired up as soon as it turned over.

Neil. :)
