Old news that's not the one DEFRA is bringing out

GL26 is being challenged by wild justice, see thread above, I expect the rest will follow, not that it matters as all the shooting orgs have declared them not fit for purpose

As we can all see from their challenges, statements and ‘evidence’ to DEFRA, the driven shooting industry is the current target for WJ. Every shooting sport will be lined up in turn unless the authorities get the legality of the GLs and statutes sorted.

If anyone thinks deer stalking is out of the frame, then here’s what they’re saying:

  1. Mammals: Although the implementation of laws relating to killing of wild birds has been grossly inadequate the law has been clear and has a logical framework. In contrast the legal protection given to wild mammals in the UK is a hotchpotch with little clear rationale behind it. Defra might wish to look at these matters in the Environment Bill or elsewhere.
  2. Poor regulatory framework for killing of wildlife: sport shooting is largely unregulated in the UK in contrast with many European countries where hunters and shooters need to be licensed, or the landholdings on which they shoot need to be licensed. No quotas are set for quarry species and there is no reporting of species-specific annual bags. The game shooting industry is the major source of wildlife crime against protected birds of prey. Government must do more to provide a strong regulatory framework, meaningful enforcement and publicity for good and bad practice.

But as timbrayford says we have courses and self regulation ??? Surely that’s enough to protect us ???

So I'm wondering why Gove stripped NE of dishiing out the GLS could have had some out for crows for crops protection and wildlife protection plus magpie's
I don't trust that frog eyed toerag

Gove is a fully and exclusively self- centred career politician - I say that with contempt.
He publishes his intention to take the GL response off the left-wing leaning NE, but suddenly wishes to extend his 'power' (and remuneration and status) by becoming PM.
Forget the needs of those he represents or those who rely on his ministerial honesty, he suddenly feels the overwhelming need to ask for second chance after being caught with cocaine up his snout, he can see the money /power/prestige drifting from his personal grasp (ing).
Conveniently this personal appeal replaces any concern about his current post and its responsibilities and his previous solemn undertakings to resolve the difficulty NE has precipitated and supported, because the one is urgent (personally) the other is less urgent (his responsibility to his electorate and his job)
He needs to be sacked and forced to find work as most on here have had to do. The man is an odious criminal ........add your own words of derision and contempt after this, I am at a loss to find words which are sufficiently excoriating (in the non medical sense).
Have we given up hanging traitors at Tyburn ?

My father has an appropriate comment
“He wants f ing with the rough end of a pineapple”
Or “Tapping on the back of the forehead with a lump of 4”x2”

Are you sure this is correct? I spoke to SAC's in May re the use of Larsens for trapping magpies and they assured me it was still legal as it is covered by another licence.

D

You had a good look at that face  i'd say a pineapple was a standard fitting looking at he's expression ??

Use of Larsen's is covered under a separate licence, but if you need to trap birds not under one of the GL's eg Crows, then you need an individual licence for trapping that bird(s)
