Kahles Rangefinding Binoculars Repair

I recently sent a pair of Kahles 8x42 range finding binoculars for repair as the rangefinder wasn't working properly. I now have had a reply from the service team to the effect that my binos are beyond economical repair (but they don't state what the fault is nor the cost of repairing it despite a request from me). However they are offering me a 'fully refurbished' pair with the latest tecnology for £385apx. I asked them where the refurbished binos come from but got a woolly reply. The cynic in me says that this is a bit of a con and that eventually my binoculars will become the next refurbished ones. Anyone had this offer? Or has anyone got any thoughts on the matter? Thanks

I was in a similar situation with a Zeiss LRF after a fault developed draining the battery. Their response was it wasn't economical to repair but they'd sell me a new one at trade price.

When you pay a premium price you expect a premium service and product. Vortex for me from now on.

I hope you get a good resolution from them.

I sent my Kahles LRF binos of for repair last year. They went to Swarovski UK and they were back in a couple of weeks, like new and no charge.
I am shocked you are having those problems.
