Knee replacement

After the various x rays and scans I’ve had a full hip replacement. I went as a private patient to Barlborough hospital near Chesterfield four weeks ago. They have been utterly brilliant. I have had no post op pain, just a few aches, and was walking without crutches or a limp after just over 2 weeks. Hopefully the hip replacement will sort the knee trouble I’ve had - certainly no pains so far.
I’m looking forward to getting out stalking soon and to a full picking up season. I thoroughly recommend going for the operation if you need it.
Thanks again for all your comments.

Bit ot but I was listening to radio 4 whilst driving to to my Physio. appointment yesterday.
It was about female athletes and how their menstrual cycle effects their performance in their preferred sports.
It was interesting to hear that ACL injuries are linked to their menstrual cycle!
Who would have thought that?
Prog. went on to discuss (Their words) Breast bounce and its effect on female athletes.
They even measure the G force exerted when they are running and it’s high.
Very interesting program.
Ken.

Maybe a course of naproxen would help?
You can get it on private prescription over t’internet for about £20.
Certainly helps when my back /hip flares up.

We stopped or drastically reduced using Naproxen due to the very common gastric problems that followed! Gastric bleeds and ulcer formation were the big problems so err on the side of caution ....or make sure you're on lansoprazole or similar...

Yup - I take omaprizole along with gastric resistant naproxen. No issues so far, but I only take it when I have to.

My left knee is painful after a day’s stalking, and this keeps me awake at night. It has been diagnosed a mild/moderate osteoarthritis. The question is do I consider a knee replacement sooner while the pain is still bearable or later when it becomes greater? Advice please, has anyone been in this position?
Thanks
Had mine done 4 months ago, having waited too long. You need to factor in the waiting list (might be 2 years!). In that time your other knee may deteriorate but won't get done for a further two years. I believed the myth that you should wait as long as possible because the joints don't last but in fact they can last 25 years! If it keeps you awake my guess is that it's worse than 'moderate'!
