Hi Longstrider,
I was wondering if you could fix a KAI chef's knife that I (stupidly) chipped a bit. I can send picture; it is not much but I can't work with it it as I used to. Thanks for advice, Rob

Gentlemen .. If I may ..

Whilst I realise that most of the knives you are likely to send to me will be working tools, I would appreciate it if you might find the time to give them a clean (when required) prior to posting. I have a spaniel. Spaniels are used as drug detection dogs for a reason. He knows all too well what venison is and how tasty it is. No matter how well wrapped a knife might be, he goes ape**** if one drops through the door still covered in gore from the last gralloch it did
Besides that, it's not a pleasant task working on something covered in dried guts.
A few of the blades sent to me in the last couple of months have been brown with 'residue' that a quick wipe after use would have put paid to.

Thank you :)

Hi Longstrider, was wondering if you'd re-grind a scandi-grind to a flat? Thank you.

Just had 3 knives sharpened and 1 knife repaired / sharpened by Ian. Excellent service from the start with good communication throughout. Really impressed with the knives on there return, he even threw in a free plaster which I had a good laugh at when they arrived. Can’t recommend enough.

Glad you're happy with them Deepocean :) Everybody gets a plaster. When I first started offering my sharpening skills on another forum (a knife forum) so many people cut themselves almost as soon as they unpacked their knife that I decided it might be best if there was always a plaster close by when they went and did something daft like touching the new edge  You'd be amazed at how many of them get used !

Another satisfied customer here! I sent my knife to Longstrider and recieved it back within a week with the edge wickedly sharp and polished like a mirror. I cant wait to try it on a buck but it feels surgically sharp!! Thanks also for the advice on strops and compound, googling leather strop did throw up some interesting results that were not entirely associated with knife sharpening.....!! Thanks again

Just had two knives sharpened by the man. Razor like edges and all done and returned in a few days.

Excellent service and communication. Top fella

Be very careful when trying the 'cigarette paper trick' at home, if you stand the paper on the edge of your highly polished oak dining table, you might miss the paper and hit the table, putting a great big cut in it that require the skills of a French polisher to repair it and causing your wife to aim all sorts of vile insults at you. Don't ask me how I know.

Thank you.

Still better than the guy I saw try to copy me doing it (In front of a crowd of knifemakers and collectors)... Swung like he was chopping through a tree trunk .. missed the paper completely and stuck the point of the knife into his thigh. He was about the only one there who wasn't laughing.
