Law change on catapults?

Had the Black Widow & Pro Diablo catties as a kid & teenager.Never did anything stupid with them & also never hit anything with them either🤣🤣.
Kids aren't allowed to be exposed to nasty things like this anymore, not allowed responsibility, even being outside for some is a harrowing experience.
Glad I was born in 1973 & had a great time growing up with sea fishing,an air rifle, ferrets & dogs.

I think that the problem today is that many of today’s youths would use them for nefarious acts.
I had a black widow catapult as a kid and didn’t hit much with it, but let it rip into a group of people with a ball bearing and you and up with someone getting hurt.
We have an undertone of thuggery which is rising in the UK (as I witness as I walk from the station to my office in south London) and I’m not sure how we stop it, but not allowing a youngster in a city to buy one kind of makes sense.

Same here (1972), except it was only the flash kids who had bought catapults. The rest of us made our own. And we were the ones with the ferrets etc. The type of kids who had bought catties were scared of ferrets and stuff like that, despite their bravado. And they wore white trainers. We didn’t like them very much.

Quite how they’re going to ban forked sticks from growing will be entertaining, never mind knicker elastic!

These will be the same cretins wanting your children to go and die on the steppe for their benefit?

1602 deaths by car last year in the UK and 24000 people injured. No talk about banning car.....oh, hold on, they are pushing everyone towards EVs, almost the same as banning cars :D

Slight difference in the two devices, in that one is designed as a weapon and used as such where the other is designed as a mode of transport but occasionally used as a weapon.
Cars also require the driver to be licensed, insured and the vehicle taxed and mot’d in order to be legally used, whereas the catapult does not.

I wouldn’t advocate the banning of catapults or crossbows because they can be legally used for different purposes, but I would likely ban their sale to under 18/21’s or without some form of license.

The world I grew up in has gone and modern day UK is a bit screwed up!
