As above. Best thing to do is call the Mayfair store.

I had some issues with my HD-B's giving false readings. Spoke to a very helpful guy called Jimmy.

Sent binos off, 10 days or so later had a completely re-built ser back.

Used the Leica store in Manchester - didn't realise my binos had lifetime warranty and they were sent off FOC for a full service and overhaul because they were a bit grimey from too much crawling around in the mud - eye cups wouldn't slide in and out any more, but otherwise they were ok.

Brilliant customer service!!

Hi JCS, What was the issue if you dont mind me asking? Customer service, quality of the actual service etc? Also, did you use Leica direct, or go via Mayfair, manchester or another ?

I called Mayfair store, dropped tatty old Binos in and a few days later they were serviced, parts replaced, cleaned....all for free! Great service.call them or go visit.

Dropped my 15 year old ones into the Manchester store last year - sent back to the factory for a free of charge overhaul and full clean. Can't fault that.

I sent mine back last year. Phoned and they sent me a ups label they took several weeks and charged me £250 more or less happy but thought a couple of things could have been thrown in. The strap was tatie and the lens covers were missing.

I was charged £65 for them to be sent to Leica and be inspected. No work was performed. Viking optics fixed the eyecap for a fraction of this cost.
Regards

Why are some people reporting a comprehensive free service where Leica go above and beyond yet others are being charged just to send in the binoculars to be looked at?
I'm considering a small pair from the likes of Nikon, Leupold, low end Zeiss and Leica and warranty is important to me. Leopold seem to have a lifetime warranty but dont seem to have any small or medium pairs at the moment.

If warranty is of prime importance it would be worth looking at the Vortex range as their warrantee is apparently the best out there, I have certainly not heard anything to the contrary.

I recently sent my Leica 8x50 BA off via the Mayfair shop. They are about 30 years old and had taken a knock recently so needed to get the focus mechanism sorted. They went back to Portugal and I got an estimate of £300 to fix the mechanism and give them a service.....Sounded excessive at first but a damn sight cheaper than anything new that could get even close to the quality of the BA's, so i bit the bullet. They came back 'like new' - Fixed mechanism, new rubber armour all round, re-sealed and nitro filled. Another thing i noticed was that where there had been a tiny scratch on one of the lenses, they had replaced BOTH objective lenses FoC!
I cant complain with that at all really, for all intents and purposes I now have something pretty much equivalent to the current £1800 Ultravids
